I've been playing Minecraft for over 4 years, and something that occurred to me recently was that I never managed to beat the Ender Dragon on my own. Granted I only made one true attempt at it when I first got the game ages ago, but I felt like at this point it was sort of wrong not to have beaten it by now. Since I didn't have internet for the past couple of weeks and was bored out of my mind, I wanted to see how far I could get in Hardcore mode just for the fun of it. Little did I know I was going to actually end up beating the game lol. It took me over 12 hours across 4 days to beat the Dragon and get basically every achievement except for Adventuring Time, On a Rail and the achievements that come after The End. I'm sure loads of people have done the same thing, but I was curious as to how many people actually did beat hardcore to see if it was like a "true achievement" or something like that :P.

V1 Pics: (Just a warning, these pics really don't have anything that special in them, I'm just sorta uploading them as proof that I actually did this :P)I probably took this when I slammed the keyboard in frustration of having no diamonds after 2 hours of strip mining I took this so I could actually find my house again after getting lost 3 times lolClay resources, enough said
The coords to the end portal.
Not sure why I took a picture there, but I do know that it reminds me that I should have 2 notch apples instead of one, but I don't because I accidentally fed it to my horse XD.
After taking forever to find diamonds, seeing two veins in one probably made me so excited I decided to take a picture :P.
I put the V1 here because I intend to release another update on my world when I beat the Wither, or at least I hope to :P. I apologize if my world looks a little less than beautiful or decorated, hardcore is not known for its builds lol. I tried to set spawn at my house so you wouldn't have to wander around to see it, but in case you don't end up in my house, you can find the coords to my house in the pictures.
So yeah, pretty cool I guess that I beat it, and congrats to anyone else that did as well. I don't plan on stopping here with my hardcore world, I'd love to get every achievement possible and deck out my world with buildings and the like. I have never actually fought the wither before though, so...yeah, wish me luck when I decide to take him on :P. Comment down below how far you got in a hardcore run or if you beat it, and tips to take on the wither pwease :3
I've never played Hardcore but I know that I wouldn't have any trouble beating it, considering how I've survived long enough to accumulate over 2 million XP on Normal difficulty (I use a mod to see my score) with less than maxed-out armor; even in 1.9 I could easily offset both the increase in damage on Hard and decrease in armor effectiveness for the same or less damage after armor.
In my last world (zero deaths in 1,200 in-game days and 450,000 XP) I only had level 1 enchanted iron armor and an iron sword when I defeated the Ender Dragon, saving my enchanted armor for caving, which I do as an end-game activity (I branch-mine to get my first resources, one reason being that it is safer; you can get diamonds without ever having to fight mobs, as well as being much more efficient).
If I would do anything differently, besides wearing better armor, it would be keeping my hunger full (I often don't eat until my hunger is nearly gone since I don't consider losing 1-2 hearts to be risky; the 8 times faster regeneration when full in 1.9+ makes a much bigger difference when under attack).

Yeah, I was actually pretty surprised myself how easy it was to beat the game on hardcore. Well...maybe I panicked a little fighting the dragon, but still :P. That's pretty impressive beating the dragon with only iron armor and sword, at least to me. I'm still quite a ways away from attempting this on 1.9+, just solely based off of how many times I died on a private smp on hard, got a lot of getting used to to do with the new combat system. I usually eat like the instant I start getting hungry just so that way I don't get surprised by my inability to run when I'm being chased by mobs, it's happened enough times for me :P. I'll have to fight the dragon with iron armor/weapons only sometime in the future, sounds pretty challenging.
Hardcore mode itself isn't that diffrenent from Hard. Its just about trying to not die at all, which allows more focus on surviving.I managed to get all Achievements(Exept Diamonds to you,cuz its a Singleplayer world).Haven't beaten the Dragon nor Wither on Hardcore tho...

That's true. You can actually get Diamonds to you on singleplayer, however, or at least you can in 1.8 by having a zombie pick up a diamond you threw at it.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
