hey guys, i'm kinda new here & to minecraft...i just wanted to know what rooms i should add to my home...maybe if you could list all of your rooms, i can get some more ideas
so far i have a main room (bed, chests, furnace, crafting table), a 2nd floor (room of beds), third floor (bathroom), kitchen, dining room, library/enchanting room, and greenhouse
please post what rooms you have and hopefully will give me some ideas! thx!
please guys/gals...really wanna make my house better! all you have to do is list your rooms that are in your home...it'll help all who read this topic, not just me!
Sex Dungeons.... Jk. Do enchanting rooms, brewing rooms, underground farms, dog houses, cobblestone generator room, library (now even better with writable books) .....
1. "Welcome" Room. The room you walk into when you enter my house. It has a few paintings on the wall and a few "chairs".
2. Kitchen. It has four furnaces and some paintings on the wall. There is also a double-chest with all of my food in there. Also has a lava garbage disposal.
3. Living Room. It has a few "chairs" and "couches", a crafting table, a "lamp", and more paintings.
4. Bedroom. It has a bed, two crafting tables, some paintings, and that's about it.
5. Treasury. You enter it from a secret passage in the Living Room. It has all of my ores, ingots, armor, tools, etc in it.
6. "Escape" Room. If my house ever is attacked by a mob invasion, I can use the Minecart track located in this room to escape to my "Wizard" Tower.
That's basically it for my main house, but I also have a "Wizard" Tower a couple hundred blocks away from my house that has an Enchantment Room, an Alchemy Room, and a Nether Portal Room.
I have a house in the Nether, too, that is almost exactly like my main house, minus the Escape Room.
Minecart/train station. From here, you can ride a minecart on diffrent tracks to things like remote outposts, faraway other homes or mines.
Kitchen
Smeltery
Trophy room (here you can show off certain achievements with blocks, like defeating the enderdragon (his egg), finding a mushroom biome (mycelium), ect.)
Remember, not every room needs purpose. Just make rooms for fun!
thx everybody! really helps...will try these ideas! but please anyone who looks @ this try to post any of your ideas & i'll keep building onto my house!
My current house is more like a studio apartment with a basement since it has three rooms in one- a foyer next to the main entrance to the house, a bedroom, and a kitchen. Fence enclosures for sheep are always fun to have too.
My house is just one room, there is no need for expansion, I have one room that you walk into with windows, 2 stoves, a workbench, a big chest (not a small one the big one), and a bed. (also some torches)
I like to build vertically rather than horizontally for some reason.
The ground floor of my house is a general purpose room: I have crafting tables, furnaces, a chest for storing things like fuel for the furnaces, and a chest full of food. The second floor is a living room. The attic is where my bed is. I always put bookshelves in my bedrooms, to make them feel like my real bedroom.
I also have underground levels. The first basement is for storage. That's where I keep all my cobblestone, coal, wheat, etc. There's also another crafting table and furnace, along with a cactus I use as a garbage disposal. (There's a bug where if you throw items at a cactus, they disappear. Way safer than lava.) Then there's the sub-basement. I have a wheat farm and a melon farm down there, as well as an underground passage to my Wizard Tower.
I also have a chicken coop, built to look like the one at my aunt's farm. Though hers is full of junk rather than chickens. And my nether portal has its own little building, far away from the other buildings because I hate the sound it makes.
A storage room, add various chests with different signs saying what to put in them (armor, food, blocks, etc). oh, and if you are playing with the recent snapshots, you could add the enderchest as a sort of dimention transporting chest.

if i behave weird in my post; it's not that i am weird actually. I like to pretend being weird just for the satisfaction of me and to make the community feel more normal. herpy herpy derp. btw, comic sans.
Storage room, greenhouse (with a glass roof), living room, library, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, nether portal room, lookout tower room, and a dog room/kennel (it has 15 dogs).
That depends wether you're going for asthetics or functionality. It is possible to do both, however. Some rooms I had in my old world were enchanting, one soley dedicated to a nether portal, an XP farm room (next to a spawner, of course.) Asthetics wise you could have a dining room, kitchen, bathroom; ya know, the works? Hope this helped.
I have a Chest room, bedroom, Crafting room, enchanting room, portal room, potion brewing room, and mine entrance room. I have wheat, sugar cane, pumpkin, and melon farms. I also have a building with cows, pigs, sheep, and chicken farms. A couple hundred blocks away, I found a skeleton spawner, and I made it into an XP grinder. I also made a library, just as a fun project, with over 10 stacks of bookshelves. I don't worry whether my buildings are functional or not, they are just fun projects. This isn't really part of my base, but I found an NPC Village, and I am remodeling it. I have destroyed all the buildings, and right now I am in the process of building houses and a large wall around the NPC City. This has been keeping me interested:) Hope you find some of my ideas helpful!

Computer Specs: 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM- 320GB 5400RPM Hard Drive- Dual Core Intel Core i5 2415M @2.3 Ghz- Intel HD 3000 Graphics- Only $1200! Yeah, I got a Mac, because I'm stoopid. Scratch that: Intel i5 2500k, 1TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda, Gigabyte Z68-D3H-B3, 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM, Radeon HD 6850, Running OSX.
Try adding farms, enchanting rooms, treasuries(for ores and gems), storage room (for dirt and stone), potion brewing labs, Fireplace(you may use it for garbage disposal), xp farm( they are deep undergroun, behind mossy cobble.Ifyou have silk touch pick you may transport it to your base), escaping passage, of course bedroom and armory(you may place dispenser with equipment on the walls and then just push button when needed), portal rooms and forge room(with furnaces)
so far i have a main room (bed, chests, furnace, crafting table), a 2nd floor (room of beds), third floor (bathroom), kitchen, dining room, library/enchanting room, and greenhouse
please post what rooms you have and hopefully will give me some ideas! thx!
Another idea is this: make a big wizard tower. In that, you move your enchanting table and alchemy stuff, and also build a portal to the nether.
thx!

Another good inspiration for rooms is the House Challenge.
The ground floor of my house is a general purpose room: I have crafting tables, furnaces, a chest for storing things like fuel for the furnaces, and a chest full of food. Oh, okay. Thanks!
