I'm just curious as to what you use it for. That's pretty much it. I'm really not good at wording discussion starters, sorry.
My Nether usually is a "home away from home" of sorts, with a nice hub and the occasional building. Besides that, I usually gather nether bricks, netherrakk, soul sand, glowstone and, as of the 1.10 snapshots, magma blocks for building purposes. I really don't take lava from it because I tend to find lava in the overworld thanks to subtitles, and also I just really like to watch the beauty of smooth lava lakes. And also with a lot of flowing lava I tend to lag.
The only use I have for the Nether, besides the getting Blaze rods and Nether wart, is mining Nether quartz for experience when I enchant my "caving gear", and I only do that one time, then abandon the Nether forever; in my first world I have not been back to the Nether in almost three years and would never need to return even if I managed to use up all of my Blaze rods for Ender chests, the only thing I use them for at this point, since I can get Eyes of Ender from villagers. In fact, it doesn't even exist because I deleted it, as well as the End, which I also have no purpose for after defeating the dragon, even in 1.9 I'd only find one complete End City, then abandon it. Likewise, all I build in the Nether is a basic cobblestone shelter around the portal, placing torches for navigation.
Right now pretty much all I use the nether for is my blaze farm so I can get infinite blaze rods for my furnaces. I do have a bit of a base there but I don't really ever use it, I only built it to shield me from ghasts.
Haven't added anything to my Nether except a portal. I just mine a lot of quartz for building my mansion in the overworld. Other than that I have not been using it as much. Although, farming blaze rods and wither skulls is a future development, I still haven't gotten into them yet. I mostly hate the Nether because I get lost like a lamb there, torches and stone pillars help a little though.
I have always avoided the nether until recently. Now, that I have created a proper home for my nether portal in the overworld, I decided to build a castle in the nether. Haven't started it yet though.
Nether quartz for xp, and building blocks. Blazes for blaze rods, ghasts for ghast tears to use to respawn the dragon, and I just like to get a bunch of netherrack and turn them into bricks for cool builds.
Most of the time, I make a cobblestone shelter around the portal, so the ghasts don't blow it up. Occasionally, I'll make an enclosed shelter, complete with everything needed to survive; Tree farm, wheat/nether wart farm, some furnaces, a couple of chests, and a crafting bench. Last time I did this, I closed the base in glass. It looked kind of nice.
I currently have 13(I think...) stops on my nether rail network. The farthest is probably around 6000+ blocks from my base. That's only covering the NE section of my world as well. I still have to add the SE section and then explore the NW/SW before adding those sections. If I ever finish my rail network, there will probably be 60+ locations to stop at.

This forum has made me decide that I now want kids, so that when they get old enough, I can forbid them from coming here. it's a terrible place.
My Nether is mainly for fast travel via a rather large minecart network linking four major bases around 13000 blocks away between the furthest; my first major development was to reach a mesa biome I'd found using AMIDST, and to this day there is no overworld connection between the base there (No. 2) and bases 1 & 3. Apart from that, I have a couple of Blaze farms.
Overworld Map (around 16000 x 15000 blocks overall)
I go to the Nether quite often mainly for supplies to make my potions. I'm always harvesting glowstone and magma creams, etc.
I like to mine a ton of Quartz usually as well, not just for the xp, but also because I'm using it to build a castle i'm working on in the overworld.
I'm also working out a little base that i want to have in the Nether where my portal is. It's most likely going to be made of stone, and i want to make it quite big as well.
Alot of people are mentioning fast travel, and i think i might try that too!

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
Nether railway. Lots and lots of Nether railway. Plus I have a Blaze farm there now as well.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets their lava from the overworld because I like the look of the nice smooth lava lakes. :-)

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

I have always avoided the nether until recently. Now, that I have created a proper home for my nether portal in the overworld, I decided to build a castle in the nether. Haven't started it yet though.
fast traveling and quartz
My friend also built a pretty neat blaze farm there, but it's not really useful
I usually just mine for quartz, hunt Ghasts, and look for Nether fortresses.
Insulting people for their beliefs is not a good way of convincing them to adopt yours.
Fiction is just a game of make-believe recorded on paper or film. But that's what makes it so great.
Hipster Jesus liked you before you were cool.
I go once, get a few blaze rods, then never come back. Usually 10 or 20. Enough for a few potions, a brewing stand and ender eyes.
You can just call me Canary.
How not to look like a total fool in the forum games

The BEST way to mine diamond, layer 12 and you.
Fast travel network and resource gathering.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
Ahh, a fine idea sir! I shall look into this.

I terraform it, and spawnproof large areas, and then build full-fledged bases and farms (ghast/wSkelly/pigman).
Here's a link to my current project....

Primarily use it as a source of lava for smelting and decoration, as well as the occasional defensive structure.
