I have an extremely large project I would like to complete in survival, but I have a problem.
I have run out of cobblestone.
Even though I've been stashing up the cobble from all of my mining expeditions and the 21*21 quarry shaft that now serves as my home, I ran through about nine double chests full of cobble extremely quickly on this project. I want to know what the fastest method of cobblestone production the forum has discovered is. I don't really care about complexity, and probably have the resources to build most any machine you can come up with. I just want the fastest method you know to produce, carry, and store, cobble.
Also, a correction, It hasn't taken nine double chests, but about eight (I think). The way I have them stacked in my main storage area got me confused as to how many I actually had, and I've been pulling cobble from other chests scattered around the world as well. Also, I have about a double chest in the End right now, as I'm working on an enderman farm.
For reference, the mob trap in the center goes up to the old max world height of 128 blocks. This pyramid is going to be a little taller than that.
I would suggest another quarry, you might get some more ores and find some caves along the way. Otherwise, if you don't like large holes in your map, I would recommend a cobblestone generator. If you don't know the basics, look here: http://www.minecraft...lestone_Farming
If you know the basics but want a good design I suggest looking here: http://www.minecraft...ng-compact.html
What is your project that requires so much cobblestone? I would love to see some screenshots!
EDIT: Wow, that looks really cool! Is it going to serve as a base, or just a fun thing to buld?
either make a huge quarry or make a huge strip mine like 200x200 or something crazy like that if u made the strip mine u would also get tons of coal, iron, gold, redstone, diamonds

I never made a meme before, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
I would just go mining. After a while and a couple of trips you will fill lots of chests with cobble.

A cobblestone generator will allow you to stand in one place and just whack away at the same spot, giving you an unlimited supply of cobblestone. In fact, if you have a sufficient supply of wood/sticks and a crafting tables nearby, it even gives you the needed supplies to make more pickaxes to keep mining the cobble.
As stated a lot before this post, there's no quicker way than plowing through naturally generated stone at levels <60 with a pickaxe glowing with an efficiency enchant.
I also next all my colleague repliers with the plea to share with us your goals which have consumed the insane amount of 31,304 cobblestone blocks!
As I mentioned in my latest update post on my castle project I'm running into the same problem. I've been somewhat able to remedy it by starting a new branch mine near the build site but it barely keeps up. If you need 9 double chests (man and I thought using 3 of them so far was a lot!) I'd either start another quarry as suggested or if there's a mountain biome near by go level it. I hope you're not like me and smelting it back to stone because that takes forever.

I would suggest creating a cobblestone generator hooked up to a piston (none will burn). Then just mine the cobble for a while. If you get bored, I suggest mining. A lot.
