DeafGeek's Journal
After reading journals posted by other Minecraft players on this forum, I decided I wanted to give it a shot at creating a journal of my own and share it with you guys and gals. My main world was unfortunately created and been worked on prior to me deciding to create a journal so i'll start the journal with where I left off.
I am not the greatest at writing, but I would give it a good effort. Please let me know what your thoughts are, be that they are positive or negative criticism, I would like to hear both on how I can improve this journal and my gameplay.
The World
My world was created a few days ago and I chose to use the 1.9 Snapshots for this playthrough. The world is created by using the customised world preset down below with difficulty set to Hard, I believe the current preset is created using the included "Isle Land" preset with some tweaks to the world gen settings and with the ores spawning less frequently but in bigger groups spread out more.
I found a beautiful waterfall slinking down a mountainside and chosen to make my base inside of the waterfall, and there is a green cuddly creeper wanting to say hello to me. (I returned the greeting using my sword.)
A closer look at the entrance to the base at the waterfall.
A look at the entrance of my base from the inside.
As you can see, the base is very much in the process of being carved out.
Been working on digging this sloped area to use as an indoor tree farm.
Finally planted my trees, was running low on wood.
Worked on clearing out the back end of the base while the trees grow and added some jack o lanterns around the trees and above it to hopefully prevent monsters from spawning near it. I think I used too much cobbles in the creation of my base.... I am planning on replacing the cobble stone with a mix of wood and stone bricks and other materials as I acquire new materials.
This shield sure does come in handy.
Tangoed with a couple of creepers just after facing off 2 skeletons, I was not successful in slaying the creepers prior to them exploding.
Harvested my meager tree farm and used some of the wood to renovate my bed and chest area. I need moar trees.... I am thinking of going outside and see if I can find a big and flat area close by to make a bigger fenced in tree farm.
Added some oak wood to the doorway.
Found this underground lake behind my back wall of the base, I am thinking of clearing out the central rock face between the 2 water corners and flatten it out and make a oasis/tree area there.
Planted myself a little farm near the exit to the underground water lake.

Wow, i am not liking the editor for the forum.... :O. it making it Difficult to do certain things.... like get rid of those blank code blocks and inserting new spoilers if the previous one is at the exact last line of the post....
Edit: I think i got the formatting sorted with a few copy and pasting and rearranging things, but i didn't lose anything. thank goodness....
Why are you jealous of my awesome(noobish) craftmanship?
Mini Update: Day 1 - Continued
Didn't do much, added the misc stones made into smooth stones to the alcoves for the chests and another color to the alcove for the bed.
Also added some more birch to the base and added dark gray smooth stone to the tree farm area.
Added some furnaces and provided a chimney for smoke exhaust and changed birch to stone slab for hopeful fireproofing. Don't worry furnaces actually don't burn adjacent wood YET....
If you've ever seen my houses, you'd understand. You'd think after 4 or so years i'd get the concept on How to build a house. Nope.
There is always room for improvement, don't be disheartened, my previous worlds and builds has been... rather disappointing when compared to most people's, but its was my own work and this time around i decided to just go with stairs/slabs with this waterfall base and even though it wasn't too impressive but it was something new for me :).

I wasn't motivated enough to play Minecraft the last few days and made little progress, but here i am back for another session of Minecraft Here is what I did do.
Day 2
Started working on my stairway to the mines and attempted to add a rail to it.
Whoops, apparently I grossly underestimated how much gold was needed for the rail and it stopped halfway down the stairs.
View from the bottom of the stairway looking toward the top.
I did uncover some diamonds in the creation of the stairway :), I collected 5 diamonds (2 for an enhancement table and 3 for a diamond pick) and made a note of where it is to come back to collect the rest later after acquiring a fortune pick in the future.

. Don't mind me, I am here just so it's easier to insert new content without wrecking the formatting.
