Here is what you do on first day: Farm 64 log, get at least 32 cobble, collect coal if you find it, make a sword, turn stone -> Furnace, burn wood -> charcoal. Win
I believe the first night is rather exiting. It is the only day that is really challenging. After the first couple days, it is a lot eisier to survive. It all depnds n the seed.
Yeah, I hate the first nights in Minecraftia too, but with a different reason. I've been playing Minecraft since Alpha 1.2.6 and my first night in Minecraftia was just thrilling to me. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know how, back then I was looking up tutorials on how to survive your first night in Minecraft. Now all the way up to the new biome generator every first night to me was exciting. But that new biome generator made everything so boring, I mean, you can predict what would happen next. Oh well, alteast there is a WIP mod that allows you to change the generator.
My first night ever in Minecraftia, I found a cave that led from one side of the mountain to the other in about 15 blocks, so I got some wood, some wool, plopped down a work bench, a bed, a furnace, walls and doors, and I even started a quarry and found some iron and coal. This was my first time playing Minecraft ever... two weeks ago. But I was pretty well prepared with knowledge from the wiki (and of course youtube) so I wouldn't be 'that stupid noob' once I found some servers and stuff.
Plus once you figure out elaborate ways to get stuff done in the first day and night, it's actually pretty fun.
I actually think the first few days in the game are the most exciting. The race to find enough food, resources, and shelter to spend the night profitably. The initial exploration of the countryside, looking for a site suitable for your first real home. Those first few nights before you find wool, listening to the moan of zombies, and screech of spiders, and the rattling bones of skeletons.
The only thing even remotely as exciting as the first few days of the game are your initial explorations of the Nether, in search of glowstone, and the elusive Nether Ruins that are the source of nether warts and blaze rods...
By the end of the first day I usually have my 2 storey home with doors, furnace, glass pane windows ... lots of torches. Sometimes even a glimpse of wheat farm.
What's the catch with first day?
I Think I will record my first 10 min on Youtube xD

I go mining for the first few minecraft days, so I can get swords, armor, and other things that make it easier to go out fighting mobs throughout the night, rather than hiding in my house for 5 minutes in fear of the mobs.
The first day is a lot of fun. The first night can be dull if you haven't started a mine yet and don't want it in your house.
But usually, I make a temporary shelter/mine for the first 1-2 days, then go build a permanent house when I have enough resources to do it right and have found a good spot for it. So in that case, the first night just means mining.
And yeah its really annoying.....
Don't you think?
It's not annoying. It filters the noobs. Anyway you should have wood if you didn't spawn in a desert.
2. Craft wood (128 wood)
3. Craft sticks (32 sticks)
4. Make tools
5. Dig a base inside of a mountain

So, no, I don't hate the first night :tongue.gif:
