Where are you on your first night on a Minecraft World? I'm usually hiding and mining in a cave system, or, if I'm lucky, crashing with Mr. and Mrs. Testificate. So, where are you usually living on your first night in a world?
I build a basic 10x10x5 shelter for the first night. I make sure I have a bed and sleep off the first night. I spend the next day gathering food and making tools to mine.

I will try and get some wood then tools then build a small wooden hut and if i have long enough time il go coal hunting or make some charcoal
Hole in the side of a cliff. This remains my "Home" for most of the time. Usually just start digging down from there to start Mining during the evening hours.

Well, my temporary shelters have always been 3x3x3 rooms. They are also almost always the same: A workbench, flanked by two furnaces, is on the left, and a bed (assuming I have access to wool) with a small chest at its foot, on the right. A wooden door ensures that I can see out without having to worry about monsters coming in. A torch will be placed outside above the door, and a second torch will light up the shelter itself.
Where that first temporary shelter is greatly depends upon my starting conditions.
The most common one is a shelter that is carved into the side of a hill or a cliff. I just love this form of the shelter. Building it gives me enough stone to replace my wood tools for stone ones, and if I have to stay up through the night, I can start a diagonal shaft downwards, in search of coal and iron. If there are abundant resources nearby, and if that shaft encounters no cave systems before hitting bedrock, that shelter may become the entrance to an elaborate underground base.
Sometimes, I have to dig down into the ground to reach stone to carve out my temporary shelter. I don't like this form of shelter as much, because it means that I have to climb up to get out of it, and that means I can't check for creepers before leaving. In fact, I usually choose a hillock to carve into before I start digging down to stone to carve out my shelter. That way, I don't have to climb up after opening my door. If there are abundant resources nearby, this shelter eventually becomes a cellar under the central keep of a castle.
If there's a system of caves nearby, that shelter will be a short distance inside the cave mouth. Depending upon how extensive that cave system is, and again if there are abundant resources nearby, I may again be moving underground.
Of course, all these shelters assume I have early access to at least one tree. I've been caught at sunset from time to time not having found any wood, which means I have to dig an "emergency shelter." Ideally, this "emergency shelter" is made of sixteen blocks of something that can be harvested by hand (dirt, gravel, or sand). There's no roof so I can punch any spiders that climb on top of it, and still see outside so I can know when the sun comes up. I don't go three blocks high so I can hop up and check for creepers in the morning. It is a fun way to spend the night, especially when you hear Endermen nearby.
you mean, my *very* first shelter? Back in Beta 1.4, I just made a lil 9x9 wood shack. Was quite proud of it at the time. I'd post a pic, but I lost the original world
.
Thanks for the help
After I learned how to play the game, all future shelters on the first night were cliffside bunkers.

A: A small cave, easily lit up by ~4 torches.
B: A cave that I've dug in the ground.
Although, that usually is my permanent home. ._.
What can I say? Hobbit Holes are my natural habitat.

I have a furnace, crafting bench and bed lined up and I just spam click the bed when it is almost night
Dirt - Dirt
Air - Me!!!

That's kinda of what I did too, but it was to my right when I spawned. :laugh.gif:
I find coal trees and a cliff face so then I hollow it and thus making my shelter
