One of my friends was talking about it on MSN, but never really looked into it. One day, I downloaded the trial version of the game and got hooked. Almost a year later, here I am playing this awesome game with friends. I could play BF3 or some latest games, but for some unknown reason, Minecraft is always the winner of them all !
I read about it in Gameinformer Magazine, then I got in during Alpha. I spent the days waiting up until I had it watching Seananners and reading the Minecraft Wiki. So, one year later, I'm a badass sniper, builder, and hater of using redstone as I cba to do it at all :biggrin.gif:
I spend so much time playing Minecraft I didn't make my forum account till a week later. Now you know why my post count is so low :biggrin.gif:
When I first played Minecraft in Classic, my thoughts were, "This brings me back... why, it almost reminds me of Lego Creator!" Then when I played Beta, I was like, "Alright. This is a challenge. Time to get serious with it!"
Night time was scary as hell because the biome I spawned in didn't have any sheep and I was too afraid to actually attack any mobs, so I couldn't make a bed. I had to wait out each night inside my cave (and then small house). Very exciting
I'd heard about the game from some friends, and so I watched SeaNanners' Let's Play on it a few days later. I was skeptical until I saw the adventure and beauty of the game.
Although my initial "HOLY **** THIS IS AMAZING" reaction to it is gone (and I want it back :/), I still enjoy the game the same as I did a year and a month ago, all the way back in Alpha.
i so badly wanted it ever since i saw paulsoarsjr survive and trive aplha series on youtube. 3 more months later i bought it and got so much mods that my minecraft crashed every 15 minutes. anyway now i only have around 10 mods. i used to have like 250 or so. anyway it was a crazy time! but my first minute i was all like grr lag

Sire I inquire as I do with most, but do you mean to gloat? For is it truly such a tire to reply to the host with but a simple QUOTE?
At first my friends were constantly telling me "Get the game!" So i finally got the game and when i first played it, i thought, are you serious? i spent 20 bucks for this? But then i realized that there was more to the game...
Eventually, i became a fanatic
The first version of minecraft I played was creative. I walked around and started coming up with ideas of what to build. I thought it was great. I remember hearing some music and it just felt great to have freedom!
When I first saw minecraft, I thought that it was a retarded game like Call Of Duty.
Was that really necessary? I'm sorry if Cawwadooty isn't indie and obscure enough for your rebellious hipster tastes, but you don't have to go around bashing it in places where it's completely unrelated to the topic of discussion.
On topic, the first time I ever saw Minecraft was back in October of 2010, in Minecraft Pals (that Flash on Newgrounds), and when I found out it was a game I Googled it and expected it to be 2D like the Flash. I played the classic very briefly (my computer at the time could hardly run it in-browser) and quit it for a while. I only got back into playing it because my friend was raving about it and offered to let me use his account for singleplayer. I did, and he "instructed" me on Skype while I started out. Of course, the first thing I did was dig a 1-block hole straight down, and got stuck. When it was night, my friend told me that there were monsters out at night, so I was almost glad that I was in my 1-block pit. I remember WTFing when he said there were green penis things walking around up there. I wondered how I would get out of my pit for a while, and then my friend told me of yet another one of Minecraft's wonders: lava (actually, he told me that if I dug down enough I could kill myself in lava, but that's beside the point). In the end, I got to playing a whole lot of Minecraft, so I'm actually pretty burned out on it now.
Me and my cousin, first played roblox a lot. Roblox is also a game of building and stuff, with other maps like survive the zombies, survive the disasters, build to survive. Etc. You could also script and create your own games with lau scripting language. But it lacked something. The need to gather materials and the addiction to stay on one game for more than 2 hours. Then, one day at school, my best friend too me about minecraft. He said it was the most awesome game ever. I didn't believe him, and that was a BIG mistake. So, I went home and played the free version. My reaction: WTF???! This sux!!
A couple of months later... My cousin heard of it and searched minecraft on google and found minecraftforfree.com. It was minecraft beta 1.7.3. I went to his house and saw it. It was epic. He tried to make a house out of sand, but the roof kept falling down. I said,"we probably look like noobs." so I made a roof out of WOOD. And no planks. Then we found our first iron. He said to NEVER make an iron pickaxe, because we thought iron was rare. Oh, I remember my first gold ore.... Lol.

One of my main reactions was OMG A GAME ABOUT LEGOS THIS IS GREAT EXCEPT ITS MORE THAN LEGOS WOW WOW WOW.
And then I was like HOW DO I MOVE MY HEAD LIKE THAT THAT IS SO COOl.
But it took me like an hour to realize how to break something.

I actually figured out about this game through Roblox, so I though it was gonna be absolutely terrible, but when I played my first reaction was this: THIS GAME IS BROKEN! MY TREES ARE FLOATING!!!
I ended up getting Minecraft in Alpha because my friend kept annoying me to get it, then I just thought "Wha- what is this...What is th- I don't even...Ugh..."
