I haven't seen a thread with this topic yet so I thought I just make one.
When I'm playing minecraft the landscape in my save tends to change quiete a bit since I terraform large chunks of the world so it suits my taste. And I wanted to show you some of these changes personally that is why I created this thread.
To create this pictures, I re-created my current save and then took the pictures in creative mode on the same excact coordinates in both saves.
And this is what has changed:
View North - Before
View North - After
In this picture you can see the entrance to the grinder of my mob farm which is located below the surface. The mob farm is also connected with a pigmen farm. Above the entrance is my watchtower and in the right bottom corner you can see a part of the automatic farm.
View East - Before
View East - After
On the far left side is the staircase which leads to my watchtower. In the middle is my automatic farm which design is self-made. Each corner gives you exactly 64 pieces of wheat if you turn the machine on with the push of a button. The drops are then collected in the small chest on the right side. (The double chest is to store the crops)
On the right side of the picture is the animal barn which has a pen for each animal. (And two more in case that more animals are added in the future)
Of course the pens are partly open-air so the animals are able to enjoy the sun.
View South - Before
View South - After
There isn't much in the south yet. Probably I gonna build a village there but I'm not sure yet.
View West - Before
View West - After
This is my main house which has everything I need. (Bed, Enchanting table, Furnaces, Anvil and Armor stands)
Around the house is a garden for each growable plant in minecraft. (Including cactus and coco beans). The cactus garden is also automatic so I'm able to harvest them with the push of one singel button.
What you can't see in this picture is the cellar which is located behind the house in the ground. The roof of the cellar is made of glass and also has a gangway to my nether portal.
But enought from my save. How has your world changed since the beginning?
I don't do much in the way of building; most of the changes in my worlds are underground, meaning that all the caves have been lit up and mined out. That said, here is a before and after comparison of the area around spawn, using a 3D map renderer:
Before:
After (the world was originally created in 1.5.1 and recreated in 1.6.4; there are a few minor changes to things like trees but otherwise it is the same; the seed is -123775873255737467):
Aside from small secondary bases the only signs of my presence on the surface are cobblestone pillars I use to mark where I left off from caving (I don't bother removing them after I'm done), and walls built around villages I find.
This is my world. The first two pics are before, the rest are now.
Note that many buildings are ugly, and that most don't fit together,
This used to be a Realms map with a few of my friends. I built the walls, the cobblestone floor, the streets, the decoration, the barn, the farm, the (small) marketplace,. the waterfountain and the big cubic stone/nether brick building is used as storage.
Hey TheMasterCaver whats the renderer for that, im just wondering since I can't seem to find one?
I used MCMap, which I also use to make those maps of caves I've explored (perhaps its most unique feature; it will only render caves within a short distance around torches, thus you only see what you've explored, aside from mineshafts but I removed the torches from them).
In my main world, I didn't start taking photos right away in Alpha (Not sure why.); so what I've done is taken the very earliest photos from when I did. (From the very bowels of one of my photobucket folders.) I can't use the save and load it up in Alpha as the world was accidentally deleted twice in the early days so the I'd never get the same generation. I really wish, 5 years later I had done pre-build shots in hindsight.
I've tried to take an exact shot for shot where possible. WARNING: The following content may contain odd camera angles!

I may as well do this thing too. The world I have doesn't really have a whole lot going on it it, sadly. The "Before" pictures were taken in the new snapshots, so it might not be 100% as it originally generated (created in 1.8.3).

Derman I thought your Ocean Monument was open to the sky (like your current avatar pic). Did you change that? Also what are the glowstone pillars in the water in a few places?

Yeah, the Ocean Monument / Farm is off to the right out of shot, the pyramid is my main base. The glowstone pillars represent the extent of the beacon effects.
All you have to do is do the command /seed in your world, then make a creative world with that seed. Then you fly to where your base is take pictures, go to your main world, and take pictures.
Its even easier, just select your main world save in the game menu and chose the re-create option at the bottom, set to creative and off you go. That's essentially what I did. Although I had to load two diff profiles and do it in two diff stages as the first part of my world was created in 1.5.2, and the other areas after 1.7, which was when the biome generation changed. If I'd have gone to my first base in 1.7 or later, there wouldn't have been the same biome generation.
This concept sounds fun! And so, I took several screenshots of my world before/after its transformations.
Spawn
Plains
Main Base
Base extension
Some environmental damages
Forest fire caused by a lava lake
An area at the east direction. Most of the forests that bounds my base are roofed forests. Dark oak trees are so dense, you can't see the ground from above.
After the fires were put out sometime, a few mysterious glows with no known direct source are seen glittering near the crater.
This is the forested area seen in the second part. I take no responsibilities in this sort of deforestation. It might have been caused by multiple lightning strikes as far as I can tell. This was actually my first time in seeing a massive destruction of the environment caused by naturl occurrence.
Lastly, The Underground
I tried to match the pictures from where I took them so I apologize if I took some shots at bad angles.

I like the wheat farm design. Don't think I've seen one quite like it, although many that work in similar fashion.
I don't think my current world is quite far enough along yet to do something like this, but I enjoyed looking at yours.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

I wouldn't really call a resource pack a mod, just not vanilla. The only mod (More a tool) I have is Optifine.

Base 2 - Mesa (Before, After & After recent demolition of main base and iron farm)
Base 3 - Ice Spikes (Before & After)
Base 4 - Ocean Monument (Before & After)
