I've never actually played the Resident Evil games but this sounds pretty cool, I'd help if I wasn't currently working on my own castle, a texture pack, and a server I'm trying to start. I would still love to see some pictures and follow the progress of it. Also, sweet Hellsing avatar. Alucard FTW!

If you don't stand behind your troops, you're more then welcome to stand in front of them! Semper Fidelis!
I was actually just about to post some pictures up on it.
This is the entrance at the top of the railing on 2F in the "Lobby" of the mansion, looking at the stairway.
Cornershot, and as I've aready said, this is a WIP, so the East side of the mansion is completely non-existant. ._.'
Standing on the stairs, looking at the entrance.
I also have the useless "behind-the-stairwell-hallway", but I've found a use for it, and I'm going to put starting equipment behind it. No screenshot, yet.
Thanks for the compliment, by the way. :biggrin.gif:
So far so good, and you're welcome. I looked the mansion up online to kind of get an idea of what this project was and it's looking pretty good so far(excluding the textures of course but that can't really be helped).

I actually have the map bookmarked, and when I start working, I have it pulled up right next to my Client. XD
I'm doing my best to keep it as exact as possible, and I'm trying to find a texture to use that would make it look better, but when I distribute it, that won't matter, I suppose...
I'm looking for someone to help, but I don't think anyone is paying attention...
Oh, and did you look up the original PSX version, or the Wii/GC remake, because the map is waaay different.
I'm sticking with the original, because I have that one almost memorized.
[EDIT][More pictures!]
From the entrance.
Taking a look at my mostly finished side of the mansion.

Yeah well every project goes through it's beginning stages pretty un-detailed (obviously =P). I don't really know which one I looked up, I just searched it in Google images but I found one that has the same layout as your's so I figure that's the one. I'm not sure what region you're in but where I'm at it's 12:20 AM (I'm a night owl), which isn't really an ideal time to post as not many people are on. You could try and post it in a different area, such as the Beta Survival Servers forum if it's a server you're making this on.

I'm actually doing it as a survival map, and once I'm done, I'm going to distribute.
But I know for a fact that I'm going to need someone to set up circuitry for the doors/show me complex circuitry.
And mob spawning, specifically Zombie spawning.

Once you get to those stages I could help out. I'm not entirely proficient in redstone but I know enough to make most circuits and devices. I can also do the spawners, might take a while though you have to fined a zombie spawner in a dungeon then use MCedit to copy and paste it where you want it. Once you get to that point send me a message with the download and I'd be happy to help.

Well, therein lies the problem. The only place that I don't want zombies is in the Lobby, and maybe a couple of "Safe Rooms", like in RE, but I could mark those for you.
Not to mention that I have NO CLUE how to deal with spawners.
XD

That should be easy enough to do. As far as I know spawners will only spawn hostile mobs in an 8x8x8 cube with sufficient darkness. So it wouldn't be a problem if you just marked the areas/rooms with signs. Also I forgot to say in my original post but I'll say it now, welcome to the forums! Enjoy your stay.

Oh, and speaking of sufficient darkness, I was thinking of lighting the mansion with Redstone torches, so it would be dark, but not so dark so that you can't navigate.
Would that work, if I placed them far enough away from one another?

Lighting in Minecraft works like so: A source that gives off light will give off it's luminance level on the block it occupies, each block out it decreases in luminance level unless another light source affects it. Sunlight has 15 luminance and lights up all blocks that are exposed to the sky. Torches give off 14 luminance so one block right next to a block with a torch on it will be 13 luminance then 12, 11, 10 so on and so forth. For every decreased luminance level visibility decreases by 80% form the previous luminance level. Redstone torches give off a measly 7 luminance level, which is coincidentally the maximum light level at which hostile mobs can spawn. It's also quite dark and will get much darker each block away from each other torch. I would suggest doing some testing to see how dark you want it and place torches accordingly but no matter what you will have hostile mobs spawning in between the torches(not sure if you want skeletons, creepers and spiders also).

I would certainly like to keep it to just Zombies spawning, and I definitely want to keep it dark.
Capcom had the original pretty dark, I'm going to honor that.
Speaking of which, can you even disable other mobs from spawning on an indiviual area?
[I really haven't messed around with modding or anything until now. I'm not new to MineCraft, just new to the micromanagement of MineCraft. XD]

Forgot to say in my last post that you're welcome. It could be hard to keep it to just zombies spawning. I can think of two possible ways to do that without mods. If you want to use mods I'm sure that there's one out there that can prevent certain mobs form spawning but the downside of using mods is that every player who wanted to play on your map and keep it to just zombies spawning would have to download every mod you used in the map, which can deter a lot of people. If you want to do it without mods then you would either have to use normal torches and set them far enough way to keep it dark in certain areas but keep the luminance level to at least 8 or higher on every block, this could get difficult depending on the geometry of the mansion but I would be willing to do that if need be. The other way would involve making sure that there is a zombie spawner covering almost every area, that way zombies would spawn and fill up the limit of hostile mobs before other ones could spawn. But that would be extremely unreliable because mobs still have a chance of spawning before the limit is reached. You would also have LOTS of zombies EVERYWHERE.

Zombies everywhere is pretty much the mantra of Resident Evil.
As long as they don't show up in the safe zones, it's all good.
On a side note, I don't want to use any mods, if possible.
I want people to be able to download it and go.
I've already set the spawn point to right inside of the front door, and I'm going to post signs telling people what to do, etc.
Cool, cool. But I'm talking like 10 zombies in a corridor, kill them, walk down corridor, get killed by ten more that spawned directly behind you in the corridor you just walked through. Once you get it to the point where you want to add in zombie spawners and lights I'll play around with the different options and you can see which one you like best. That is, if you still want help of course. And not using any mods shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, let me play around with just building the skeleton of the mansion, and I'll send you a download link, and you can mess with it. I have to figure out a way to make tables and whatnot.
Oh, and any help/pointer/guidance IS and always WILL BE highly welcome, and highly appreciated.

That'd be great, once you get to a certain point I can help with anything you need. I can make Chairs, benches, chandeliers, beds, lamp posts, and tables(although I'm still kind of trying to figure out how to make them not over sized. There's a thread dedicated to furniture floating around somewhere which I'm sure would be very helpful. But it's getting pretty late here and I'm tired...so I'll add you to my friends list but I need sleep now.

The Spencer/Arklay/Umbrella Mansion from the original Resident evil.
And just to gather the sheer size of the unfinished product...
We're also working on Raccoon City, which is in the MCEdit outline phase [go to the later pages, and you'll find screenshots :biggrin.gif:].

Right now, I'm just working on the actual building, and getting it to a 1:1 scale.
As soon as I make more headway, I'll add more photos.
It's a much more daunting and intimidating task than I thought.
XD
@Maxter, Aye Cap'n. I'll keep you posted.
