Hi guys, I recently started a project, it involves a floating center, with lots of little floating islands branching off it, and wondered what yous thought.
Current progress is about, 15%, lots of islands to come!
Please leave thoughts!
I want it to be known, I farmed all the materials, the only time I used world edit was the create the circle base in the air, so I could begin building. Everything else is legit.
On one hand, realistically it would need to be an arch, but I dislike the style that you used with it. It feels too flat (ignoring the arch).
Other than that, I like it. Reminds me of a Kotaku server that I play on that has a giant floating spawn area (which is supposed to be a zeppelin dock.

I tried to attempt that with the bridge, but when I built the second Island, I then realized I didn't have enough space to do something like that.
That is pretty good. Is that sandstone building an ancient ruin of some kind?
What other things do you intend to put in the floating city?
Maybe make a 'farm' island or a island with a nether portal to connect to the main land.
Oh, BTW here is my floating island chain from my survival world. (Built 100% legit, with no World Editing) Still a work in progress as more work is needed on the main buildings and the wood scaffolding will need to go eventually.

Yours looks great! I like how the little islands look natural.
The sandstone is supposed to "look" like an old ruin, with trees and such.
For other islands, since this is going to be my home, I will be making a forest one, packed with trees, a treasury island, as you said a nether portal one, and a welcoming island, since the way there is a port. :smile.gif:

It does seem a bit sparse. I think for such a short span, if I really wanted an arched bridge, I would still have a flat underneath support structure, with arching supports on each end underneath. Make it look a little beefier and supported. Also, are there some full block rises on that bridge? If so, smooth them out with some half slabs so you can just walk over it. Nevermind, looked again and see half slabs.
Also, just my opinion but I think the dome on the building would look better if it was a bit more pointy/conical at the top.
I like it. And I think the bridge looks good, but it looks very thin. I'd add another layer of blocks underneath it to make it look more structurally sound.

A very nice start though!
Yeah like I said though, for the small space I have it's difficult it is, 15 blocks wide, to keep it rising and look curved at the same time. And also with the curved top, it was only a rushed finish, I'm sure I can fix that later on. :smile.gif:
dude this is sick :tongue.gif: =
Thankyou very much :smile.gif:

I see what you mean, to make it look like it would be less likely to collapse, "If" there were gravity? I might actually try this, doesn't seem like too much of a bad idea, thanks!
Seems good, but the vines will eventually need to be kept in check.
Ya as I've been working on it I've been hopping on the edges and cutting them back to the top, they grow rather fast.
As I promised I will keep yous all updated with the images.
Current progress: 40%
I have completed a few new floating islands, including a floating forest, and floating igloo (my home), and a floating store.
The Igloo - My home, not very igloo-y though.:
The Store - Multistory complex for people to buy floors and sell items:
The Forest - Contains a few secret rooms, and is all secluded for a quite peacful feeling:
That Warp Area - Where you start off when you warp to the Skylands:
The completed thing ain't too bad actually :smile.gif: its not exactly a floating island, as it looks way too structured, but as a floating city/holiday resort? It looks really great :smile.gif: some nice work there... Very creative

But as I said, plenty more islands to come, so I'll keep posted.

They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.

Thought I would go towards something more my liking. :smile.gif:
It can't lay too much higher, the highest point is at 117, and other buildings I'm going to place on it will be much higher.
Also, with the water, it's like a ruin, it looks better with the water. But everyone's entitled to their opinions. :smile.gif:

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

...But that's just my opinion.

I'm amazed someone realized that. I have actually made a 60x60 replica to the Hanging Gardens before, that was my inspiration. :smile.gif:
