I make a small farm to get wheat for breeding cows,pigs and chickens.

If you spawn in a swamp biome, or are near one, you can try and find some mushrooms to make into stew, which is really good. Just make sure you save 1 red mushroom and 1 brown to bonemeal later on. After the first night, wait until right after all the skeles/zombies die and try and scavenge any bones to use on the mushrooms. You'll get a ton of food for even 1 bone.

Create a farm of Wheat,Pigs or Chickens.

For Wheats

Requirements: Seeds, Fenced Off place [You Decide on How big], Water Supply.

Make a Big farm Containing wheat then After harvest craft them into bread. [OTHERS CAN EDIT IF YOU WANT]

For Animals

Requirements: Wheat, Big Fenced off Place.

Create A big farm that contain a large amount of animals. [BE SURE TO FENCE IT OFF]
Create A Fence gate to go in and out of the farm. [PRETTY OBVIOUS]
Use wheat to lure 2 or more Pigs or Chickens.
Lure the animals in. Then simply breed them.
After a few Days.
Kill the rest of the animals Except 2 to be able to breed again.

Before the updates I had a mushroom farm, a wheat farm, a sugarcane farm, and a huge mineshaft all in the Tundra biome. (Greenhouses screw the tundra's rules)

Now its just easy to bonemeal a mushroom and make stew that way.

I use bonemeal to get lots of bread.

Fenced a 3x3 area and on the first night, kill skeleton to get bone. Only one bone is needed.
Search for cows or pigs if there is none, chickens will have to do. hoe, plant bonemeal and harvest. Lure the animal into your makeshift pen. Then You just expand it.

The system i use so that i never run out of food : At least have 5 pairs of animal at a time easily so i can easily multiply it. Never go below than 3 pairs because the time it took to recover is so long. After about 2 trips of mating, KILL THEM! But leave 10 alive.

I've created a VERY successful cow farm, chicken farm, melon farm, and a wheat farm. So I eat cooked chicken, steak, bread, and the occasional rotten flesh with milk. (I eat 'em just liek cookies wtih meelk!)

I make a fence around a group of cows and breed them until the population gets large, and then kill about half of them for steak, then repeat. I also have a fairly large wheat farm nearby

I now have a single chest full of bread! took a little while, now for a double chest! (wheat farm)

Too mainstream, I eat rotten flesh (it's actually really good as I have a lot of it)

go on peaceful and start an animal farm and a wheat farm, dont make the wheat into bread, dont kill the animals, just keep expanding each farm (use the wheat you get to bread) once you have tons and tons of anilams KILL THEM! but leave two of the same type left so you can bread more. then you'll have tons of food and you can just change your difficulty back to whatever you prefer and continue with the animal and wheat farm. i beat the game without starving once using thiis techniqe

I usually use wheat.

Chickens are sustainable without wheat, just collect at least one or break eggs until you get one in a pen. My pen design is 5X5, 3 deep and a hole in the middle with a sign in it. I put water sources in the corners and it keeps the chickens toward the middle and any eggs they lay are swept down the hole to be collected and then broken in the pen to create more chickens. Beneath the hole I have a water canal that brings any drops from the slaughtered chickens or eggs to a collection point in my base. Usually I will put a dispenser in the pen and a button or pressure plate by it, store collected eggs in it until I need food or it is full, slaughter chickens then push the button until I get a bunch of baby chickens again.

I usually get a stack of beef / pork / chicken on my way to cutting down my first tree. If, for some odd reason, there's not a plethora of wildlife to slaughter, I pick an abundance of mushrooms from the neighboring swamp (which is ALWAYS there :Skeleton:).


If you have problems finding food, you're doing something wrong.
