I have a world built in 1.8.1, that I've kept and has been upgraded to the most recent version. I was gone away from my server over Christmas break, but back now. The server is in my house.
Anyhow, I've expanded my little empire to cover many biomes, as I have 6 NPC villages and my original spawn point all linked up via a network of Nether Portals and tunnels in the Nether. So I log into my world and find that it is snowing! A search for snow was the reason I went on my expeditions and found the large number of NPC villages.
So, there are clear areas where it does snow, and where it doesn't snow.
Problem is, ALL of the water is freezing over in ice, as long as the water doesn't exist under some other block.
Anyone else experiencing this? I can't find it listed in the bug list.
Where ever I go, the water is turning to ice. I have npc villages in all kinds of biomes, and snow has only fallen in one of them, but they all have ice.
I doubt it. As others said, it must be because of the changes to the biome/terrain generation between the versions. I haven't heard nor experienced any issue like this in worlds generated in the current version.
I've never used MCEdit or apps like that. I'm wondering how hard it would be to regenerate my world in the latest version and then copy EVERYTHING over? I've got roads I've built between villages, mined out complete abandoned mines.... like how close could I get, block for block in copying it over?

If it was generated pre-1.0 you can't re-generate with the 1.0 generator and still have the same landscape.
I if you generate it with a previous .jar you are likely to run into the same problem.
Trying to get games written for windows to work on a Linux machine is like trying to put a diaper on an incontinent buffalo. Sure, you might get it all done, but you'll certainly be left with a huge mess, and it's very time consuming.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
