I have been playing on a server now for about a month. It is a hardcore faction server. In this time, my two friends and I have made ourselves a faction, and built our base in the middle of an ocean, underwater. Just today, we found a small, unclaimed base in a mineshaft we were going through, and we found that it had a lot of valuable loot! So, naturally, we raided it and left signs taunting the owner to learn how to use /f claim.
Well, the owner of that base got on about 30 minutes later and privately messaged us asking for his stuff back. Obviously we told him no because he should have claimed it. It turns out he is a member of the LARGEST and MOST POWERFUL faction in the server, and that was his private base for his personal loot(again, I have no idea why it was unclaimed). He really, really wants to get revenge. So, we are now enemy factions, and he said it's his sole purpose to find us and destroy our base to get his stuff back. Now that we know he's part of a huge, very rich faction, my friend and I are a little nervous. So, here are the stats of our base, can you tell us if it is impenetrable or not?
-In the middle of the ocean
-20 blocks of water from the surface and 10 from the sea bed
-We have claimed every chunk within two chunks of our base, so it looks kind of like a big square, with our actual home in the very center chunk.
(Diagram for the uneducated; the capital S is where our base is,and the x's are chunks we have claimed)
x x S x x
-Our base is a 12x12x6 rectangular prism with four layers of obsidian on the outside, then one layer of water, and then two more layers of obsidian(you bet that took a long time to mine!).
-There are no notable islands or outcroppings near us for enemies to stand on.
-In this server, lava flow is disabled, so we don't have to worry about that.
-There is no way for us to get inside from the outside. The only way we get in is by teleporting in.
-On this server there, obsidian must be hit with 5 TNT before it breaks. However, as usual, when in water, TNT cannot hurt blocks.
So, what do you think? Is there any way, through TNT cannoning, sand/gravel pillaring, nether portals, ender pearls, or some feasible way that our base could be broken into by an intruder?

you are so screwed! He didn't claim it obviously because it was hidden. /f map, or just going above or below it would make his base found. The fact that you didn't know that, he claims he's in the most powerful fac on the server, and he did know that, combines me to tell you to do one of the following:
Skybase
Chance it with your vault
quit the server
I don't have time to build a base for you, but if you send me pics of the either of these i can rate you out of 10:
skybase
your vault
Here are some skybase tips:
Build 250 blocks above ocean
Build out of glass or chests
DO NOT CLAIM IT!
Thank you!
Ps. WHY DID YOU SIGN THE SIGNS IN THE RAID? Stupidest mistake you can make in factions
You make some good observations! The signs thing probably was a bit too much... But I let the taunting get the best of me, and now I'll just have to try and dampen the consequences.
One thing I do have to say though: how would they get into my base? My original question was whether or not my base was unraidable, and although I can definitely tell you think it is NOT unraidable, you didn't say how!
So if you think it can be broken into, can you at least tell me HOW this opposing faction would do it? It's not like they're mods or have access to admin commands... They have
the same resources everyone has but just a lot more of them through money and power. So if there is some glaring weakness I'm missing in the making of my base, could you please please tell me what it is!
From an OP Factions server I played on once, I found that you can bypass ANY wall with enough ender pearls. If you get lucky, the guy will get caught in the water between the 2 walls and drown to death, but he could bypass the wall with about 2-3 ender pearls.
You can cannon through any wall. No base is unreadable unless it's a very "primitive' server (primitive in " " because I don't see the old factions as bad) without obsidian breaker. They will simply compound cannon you by combining the tnt and sand to allow the tnt to bow up in the sand, ignoring the water.

A hybrid cannon (which fires the sand and tnt to bypass water) isn't easy to build. You can easily sabotage the cannon as they try to build it.
No, if they want to break in, they will claim your land. If the faction is huge, then they might have enough power to claim your base. This makes it able for them to just mine an entrance. It would also get rid of your faction home point (no teleporting back).
All in all, your base will be fine so long as you do not let anyone kill you. Stay in your base.

Well, he could make a hybrid cannon, but there is no defense to that other than making a hidden base. No base is ever unreadable. The only thing that could help would be laboring over the computer using non flowing lava and covering EVERY SINGLE BLOCK! I have done it, but it is a pain and will take at least 2 hours. Also possibly tp glitching they could get through
Is the top of your base claimed? They could drop gravel and sand down from the sky (if the manage to build at least one block above your base) and get rid of all the water. Then they could use a TNT cannon to blow up the walls. If I were you, I would tunnel down about 30 blocks under your base and hide your loot. Then put fake chests in your base with some sort of traps which could kill them. Im pretty sure on some faction servers enemy factions can break blocks in your claimed land., so be wary.
Ok, here's the deal: You're base is very raidable. Thankfully, it's also protect-able, but it'll take you a good few hours.
First off, you've gotta worry about glitching. If there is any water below your base, it's possible for a player to set home.. and when they go /home then they'll spawn in the nearest air pocket.. your base. This can be easily remedied by /enemy FactionName. You should probably enemy wilderness too, to be on the safeside.
Another problem is how low your base is. It should go to skylimit. Previous posts I've read have said that hybriding is hard.. but this is completely false. Hybrid cannons are now as simple as normal cannons; I've even seen designs only 4x4x3 blocks large. If you're base doesn't go to sky limit, they can just hybrid through the roof. I also advise you look up Anti-hybrid roof designs. You should have several watered staggered layers.
Next, walls. You'll see a bunch of "special" designs to protect against hybrids.. but building them is a complete waste of time. In reality, what you need is as much ground to skylimit walls as possible, all covered with water and with slabs at the bottom. (slabs break sand.) These walls can be created very easily by pouring lava and water down. You can find videos on youtube fairly easily. I highly recommend Keep in mind, you can't gen walls if lava spread is disabled. (Then ignore the upcoming and just use obby.)
Make sure that you have a few "wraps" too. These are simply wall that circle all the way around your base.
Finally, make sure that you're prepared to pvp. I advise you make some splash health potion generators and stock up on armor and gaps. Any base can be raided given enough time.
A few other tips: Don't use obsidian.. it's a waste of time. Better to spend 1 hour generating 10 cobble walls with lava and water than to spend 1 hour building an obsidian wall half the size. (Unless lava is disabled.) Make glitch chambers; several floors of empty rooms at the bottom of you're base. (Which should be an ugly rectangular prism.) Finally, and this was mentioned before, slab the bottom so that sand breaks. Cannons can still break slabs, so I advise you trench them. (aka build "trenches" around the walls and put slabs at the bottom.) Don't have you're base go underground if there are not water walls and slabs shielding the underground part. If you do that, then they can easily tnt through into the underground part and creeper egg their way up once in the base. Build over an ocean, and once you finish genning walls, mine all of the cobble that pools at the sea level. (So that you can place slabs at the ocean floor, or bedrock if you choose to trench.) Sandwalls are great, but they often take a lot of time. I personally don't use sandwalls. Create buffer claims around the walls of your base so that people can't cobble monster it.

Post some pictures...
Then I'll see.
And second, what server, and if you invite me to your fac; I'll go in depth to make it "unbreakable."
Question: OP or Not

Sadly no base is unraidable, and with enough sand/gravel and tnt (and time) I could break that base. Also, is this on Desteria...?
So long as he isn't equipped with water breathing potions, you should be fine.
