I don't know what kind of storage room you are trying to find, but here's 2 screens from one of my desings. It really is simple desing, not too hard to build yourself, but I can look if I can give you somekind of tutorial to build it if you so desire.

This is essentially what I do.
Just get a ton of chests, and trapped chests. Next, place them 1x2 with the 1x1 part facing outward (the chests will be facing the chests beside them) Alternate trapped chests/chests so you can place them near each other. Also, if you want to have a ceiling over the chests just go ahead & place backwards stairs to it appears to be a full block so you can still access the chest. I'll post a screenshot in a min maybe.

FYI, glass block works too, as it's not counted as full block. Or seems like that...
It's because the block above a chest has to be transparent to open the chest. Glass is obviously transparent. Stairs, less obviously, are also counted as being transparent. Glass is a full block.
Ah, thank you for clarifying that to me. Didn't know that.
I always put chests one above another, connected by hoppers so that I can always put items in the top chest and take items out of the bottom chest. It's such a bother when I have several chests full of the same item and I need to keep opening chest looking for one that has room for some more of that item. This simplifies my life immensely.

That's actually pretty good idea. Never even thought about that...
I kinda like that design. I was thinking about making a crafting/storage room. Nothing fancy, just a place that looks good, has a workbench, brewing, cauldron, water, etc. right on the center, with all the chests around it so i can look for ingredients quickly and effectively. I really don't need a massive think. I mostly do small projects and if i need more of a resource, then i just get it as i need it.
the only stuff i really need mor space for (no more than 2 double chests) is Cobblestone, Stone and Stone bricks. Other stuff like wood i just save the raw wood and turn it to planks when needed. Saves space.

Yeah, after trying few diff designs, I liked the idea of having everything handy, which is why I use the chests on end with alternating normal and trapped chests to maximize space. My last two bases have had the storage area as the base centre, with off-shoot rooms for brewing, enchanting, portal and armoury, so all the main components are close together. The design I posted above was actually an enlarged version of my previous design (see below) - I originally was going to try something else, but I like the design so much I recreated it, but slightly expanded. Although I'm a bit of a hoarder when playing, my philosophy based on my early experience is its better to have too much space than not enough.

Yeah, i'm not much a hoarder either. It's not like i'm going to be building huge castles or anything, but still, if i plan to, i just gather the materials i'll need. I do plan to keep my wools, stained glass, colored sand and dyes on a separate place, as they are merely for decoration, but it'll depend on the layout of the main storage area.
I've been thinking about doing different floors, maybe keeping the crafting ingrediantes closer to crafting area and the rest of the stuff on the other floors. I got the idea in my mind so i can't elaborate much, but i hope it'll look pretty cool.

I use something similar for part of my storage, except with six chests linked by five hoppers. It's great for high-capacity storage systems, and I include a lever switch controlling the hopper that takes items out of the top chest, in case I accidentally shift-click a stack into the top chest that I don't mean to put in there. This lets me double-check that I didn't goof up before closing the chest and flipping the switch to empty the top chest into the bottom chest via the hidden chests behind the wall. Or just use a trapped chest for the top chest, that will power the attached hoppers and shut them off as long as the chest is open.

I stuck with four chests high (with the options shown of using three or two chests) because dirt and cobblestone are about the only things I ever get more than four chests filled with, and then I just add a second stack next to the first one for the overflow. Things like diamonds and emeralds I never even need a second chest for, so I leave out the top chest and don't use any hoppers.
I alternate trapped chests with regular so I stack them side by side. If I goof and put the wrong thing in a chest, I can walk around back and take it out of the hoppers or other chests, since they are all visible from the back of the wall.
If I end up with way too much cobblestone, I just pile it up into a big pyramid a few hundred steps away from my base. I could just toss it into lava to get rid of it, but the pyramid is more impressive looking. hehe.
Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone had any schematics or know where i can find some for storage rooms?
I'm a mess when it comes to design anything, no creativity at all.
Thanks.
Make a big room. Fill it with chests. Yeah.
But really, try an Acacia Plank floor, Polished Andesite walls and Cobblestone ceiling
Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

Youtube may be the key to your idea, they hold lots of videos... as everyone knows.

Slabs work as well.
