Playing my first MC at the hardcore setting. Decided that the most hardcore miner I can think of is a dwarf, so I'm living like a dwarf. Afraid of sunlight and happiest deep down in the bowels of the earth. I have set myself up a little empire on level 16, within easy reach of the diamond layers.
A nice underground wheat farm, tree farm and sugar cane farm were my first big tasks. I had them all set up and now just needed them to do some growing. I thought I'd go AFK and take the dog for a walk. Just to be safe, I backed into a corner and stared up at the ceiling. I'd had a couple of visits from our teleporting friends and didn't want to get beat up for staring at them while AFK.
Couple hours later, I return and am filling my buckets in the well when I see something in the bottom. I jump in and low and behold 4 slimeballs. I was AFK about 4 blocks from the well and the little blighters must have fallen in and drowned. Curious about my location I checked to see if I was in a slime chunk and sure enough my base is right on the dividing line between two slime chunks. I wish I'd had the sound turned on because I'm sure I would have noticed this going on, it must have happened just before I got back in game.
So I guess I can check slime trap off my list. No thanks to me. My first slimeballs too, guess now see what all the fun things to do with sticky pistons are.
Step One: Find a Slime Spawning Chunk
Step Two: Create Spawning Room
Step Three: Water Well Thing dividing a platform and the spawning room.
Step Four: Awesome Profits?
I'd test this out but my mouse battery died, the stores usually aren't open around midnight and I don't have triple a batteries...
makes me want to try out hardcore mode. I tend to run around in dangerous places though, and I don't really enjoy the thought of losing my progress.
I highly recommend you give it a try, it really does add an extra sizzle. My game was almost over in the first hour when I drilled to bedrock and foolishly started digging around in layer 4 or 5. I punched into a lava tube and instead of plugging with dirt, I handed the nice lava a torch. Thankfully I had spent my first smelted iron on a bucket. 2 hearts away from game over. Excellent adrenaline rush.
Pretty cool, but why didn't you pause? If endermen could reach you surely other mobs could as well...
I didn't pause because I wanted my wheat, trees and sugar cane to grow. Other mobs couldn't get to me, the Endermen just teleported into my base. I've since discovered a huge cavern complex that basically wrapped around my base. Now that I've got it lit up like a Christmas tree, the only creatures who will spawn within my base are slimes, which I don't mind at all.
Truth be told, it was a pretty risky thing to do when playing Hardcore. Especially after getting all those farms setup, if I'd come back to the Game Over screen, I suspect my laptops lifespan would have been drastically foreshortened.
Yeah, there's videos on youtube of slime grinders where the slimes are basically washed away then drowned.
Also I recommend rechargable batteries :tongue.gif: Cost a bit, but tend to last long enough in mice, and then you're never far away from charged batteries lol. Have a wired mouse these days, so don't need to worry about batteries any more ^^.
The tiny slimes die from so very little damage. Many times I just find slimeballs hanging out in my mine collection point.
As for wireless mouse. I quit using them. I got tired of little moments of communications lag I kept experiencing. After trying 3 different models I went back to a wired mouse.

Me too. They're heavier, and buying batteries is for chumps. Wired is much more reliable.
I've been trying not to use an online slime detector (nor am I using coordinates), but it's so hard to determine exactly where they'll spawn, even after you see a few hopping around.

Best idea for a trap ever.

But it all worked out, so onward I go!

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
