You can only find netherwart either side of some staircases in the internal sections of the fortress, and I think also in fortress chests, again found in the internal sections. Not all fortresses have internal sections (these are corridors with netherbrick ceilings), perhaps your fortress has only an external area, best bet is to try finding a new one by heading North or South from the current fortress.
Dunno whether Netherwart can be obtained from villagers; they added extra trade items with the 1.8 update ...
Not all Nether Fortresses have Nether Wart. The first one I found didn't, and I've seen the same thing on YouTube. If the fort you found does not have it, either find another fort or use creative. Those are your only options in SSP.
Hello I can't find any nether wart. I found a fort but nada...
If anyone has ideas to find it let me know.
Just to add a little data: the internal section is connected to the external section with a small room which has a lava well in it.
If you get from the external section to the lava well room, and there are no covered halls there, then you definitely know the internal section is missing.
I've had situations like a short staircase leading from the lava well down into ... nothing ... netherrack.
Wouldn't that just regenerate the same situation, still missing the internal section of the fortress.
Yes it would and thus isn't a solution.
Fortresses are generated in lines that run north and south, so traveling more east/west you are more likely to intercept one of these lines. However since you've already found one traveling north and south on that line theoretically you should have a good chance of finding one.

The option does build a new Nether, but the more important thing is that it applies all new changes to it like Nether fortress with blaze spawner, soyou can get these new materials on your old (before updates) world. Asyou can imagine with a new build, all the buildings/construction you have will be erased.Jul 10, 2013
@Foil767 This would be true if not for the fact that it would generate from the same seed. "Random world generation" is not so much random as seemingly random. Given the same seed, it will generate the same world. Given that it has been a long while since the last change to world generation, its safe to assume he is on a recent enough version.

I think that would help if you had a Nether without Nether fortresses due to having run an old version with a Nether without Nether fortresses and having explored the Nether in that version.
BUT the OP definitely HAS nether fortresses, just that the one they found was malformed.
You DO get malformed nether fortresses in quite a few versions - I've seen some of them in 1.7 and 1.8 at least, maybe 1.6 as well.
If OP reset the nether, most likely the only change they would see is that all their progress in the Nether was erased.

You could also just reset the nether...

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
No, it would just reset the entire Nether, including the fortress, meaning, it makes a brand new Nether.
