hi guys i am building a central hub for my underground base, i want to use something red so i decided to go with red stained glass. i chose to combine red stained glass with polished andesite but a few of my friends suggested me to use red stained clay instead of polished andesite. i still prefer the polished andesite but i also want to hear from you guys. if you have any other combination please tell me (be sure the combination includes some red materials!). all replies appreciated, thank you!
I prefer the left side (with the red clay) out of the two you show.
Is that spruce or dark-oak logs you're using? How about keeping with that dark theme, and surround the red glass with a dark border (either more logs, or a dark block such as black clay/wool or coal block)? I like the combination of red and black/dark
I'm drawn to the left side too, the red clay compliments the red glass, I think your friends are right! I wonder....what if you alternated the clay and andesite or did a 2:1 pattern if that might be a compromise for you.
I'm for left side too, but I'll suggest replacing stone behind the glass wall, stone as background is blaah. Try replacing it with lava for more red contrast, but be aware of spruce logs, because they can catch on fire, so replacing them would be great idea too.
The problem with the andesite is that the stone bricks along the top already provide some solid grey to the design. The andesite could replace this instead of the clay if you really want to use it, but the stone bricks work just fine already.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
Imo, I like the red stained clay better. The polished andesite still looks a little grainy, I don't think it fits very well with the red glass.

Under the red stained glass you could put granite or polished granite.

If you want a cool texture try raw granite.

The clay seems to work better.
The problem with the andesite is that the stone bricks along the top already provide some solid grey to the design. The andesite could replace this instead of the clay if you really want to use it, but the stone bricks work just fine already.
You can also use blocks of redstone if you want a brighter shade of red.
