What do you like to make your floors out of? I'm trying to think of a new design but I;m having trouble finding one that looks nice. I currently use a lot of sandstone and smooth stone floors like:
What, no love for obsidian floors? I always use an obsidian floor with a stone border in my "fancy" rooms any time I'm making a castle or something. They look rather silly in a log cabin though. :wink.gif:
A checkerboard design is the way to go. What block you use depends on the rest of the room though. Using colors that work well with the "theme" of your house will do good.
If you have a rather plain style house, for example, use similar colors.
Any ideas?

this actually looks really good (especially with cobblestone walls) but is hard to get the materials for.

My greenhouse has that flooring, but my fortress/house uses colored wool.

I dislike checkerboards as well, they lack creativity.
Here's an old favorite of mine:
Just repeat it, and feel free to rotate.
