You can go back to it with the MC Nostalgia tool. I discovered Minecraft at Beta 1.2_02, but used the tool to play Alpha. The grass in Alpha looks brilliant.
It's not the same knowing there's more content for you to play. It was fun when notch released things such as fishing poles and compasses and everyone got excited and tried to find uses for netherack and glowstone right after the Halloween update. Also Minecart Boosters (NOT minecart booster tracks) were just being tested and learned about.

Oh wow! I wasn't the only one to notice this!? Dude!
But as for me, i've been (lately) keeping version backups for when I want to go back. I only wish there was a legal way for someone to give me a copy of 1.2. I remember when Minecraft didn't have RPG elements. Honestly, I like them. I LOVE them. But sometimes I wanna feel Alpha style gameplay. So... Thank you for mentioning the nostalgia tool!
Here is a picture of the first base I ever built in my first Minecraft world. I lost the save last January. Wish I had taken pictures of the other stuff. :sad.gif:

I know how you guys feel, but I'm lucky because i still have my world from a year ago October, 1 2010. There's at least 2 weeks in total playtime on my world.
