So, Now I want to cry. This has happened twice now where I die gathering stuff, My homes a million miles from origional spawn, and it cant find my bed? I've slept in it many a time! So why does it keep sending me back to origional spawn? This just sucks! ;/

Anyone can offer assistance?
Correct me if I'm wrong community but this happens when your bed isn't loaded.
Since you are so far away the bed you slept in is no longer loaded due to the block system and therefore it can't find it as the block it is apart of does not exist if you are too far away from it.
So are yall saying that because i put a fancy fence curtain around the head and foot of my bed, i cant use it to spawn? ;/ i needed that to prevent the mobs i say! xD damnit :c
.
edit: I was in the nether when i died this time. The first time i was 10 feet from my house xD
I picked mine up and moved it to where I was working and could possibly fall and die, but when I fell I did not spawn next to the bed, and there was plenty of unobstructed area to spawn.
Why I make sure to store anything, that I'm not going to use in building, in a chest nearby before I build. I will go out of my way to get more wood and prepare before I build anything anymore, and use only stone tools as wood and cobble I can generate infinite amounts of. No big deal if I lose/break them.
Yes you must sleep in your bed after moving it to spawn beside it.
The fence would probably 'cause issues but for me it usually just meant I got stuck and "suffocated".
Make sure to give yourself AT LEAST 1 block free all the way around your bed and make sure to actually sleep in it.
My solution to the problem was ultimately build a house + bed where my spawn point was so no matter what I spawned beside my bed hehe.

That was your problem. If your bed is in a safe place you don't need anything around it. Mobs only spawn if they can get to the bed from an area dark enough.

They spawn inside my house all the time when i sleep.
1) Don't put anything in the blocks around the bed.
2) Place the bed at least 1 block away from the walls.
3) Make sure your floor is at least 2-thick or that your house is way up in the air. You don't want mobs glitching from below.
4) Light up your home and surroundings well.
5) Regardless of what you do with your main home, the safest bet is to build a tall pillar (30-40 high), put a platform on it, build a small house on that platform and put the bed there (not touching the walls). Light up the inside/outside really well. Use ladders and a trapdoor to go up/down. I would be shocked if you ever saw a mob up there.
6) If this is even an option... setup a server and use one of the mods that let you "set home". Then at any time when you are lost (or dead) you can return to your home with /home. There are at least 2 mods that have this capability. One of the mods even lets you setup warps (teleports to locations you mark).
it sucks that the building has to be pretty damn specific in order for mobs to not spawn. Imo if my four walls are lit up well and i have a ceeling+floor it should count.
I can get to my house using cartograph no problem, its just the scale of the distance i have to travel, by the time i get back anything i was collecting is gone (I was farming potion ingrediants from the nether, stupid me)

Also, the fences were decorative.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
