Ok thanks guys. Im playing on Hardcore mode and i want to be legit and no cheating.
Well, it depends. Monitors affect it the most. My desktop = Can not see a thing at night, Laptop = I can easily see everything, no matter the light level.
You can't cheat in SSP, no matter what mods you have, as it is a game where you do whatever you want.
SMP, well that's another matter. But setting your brightness level, which is an in-game setting, is more like 'exploiting' the setting, for lack of a better word.

Cheating depends on the rules you set for yourself (since Minecraft has no rules). If, as you seem to be, you are playing in a hardcore setting, then anything to make the game easier for yourself is considered cheating. If you are playing in a completely creative mode, then pretty much nothing is cheating.

May the best man win. Sphere. May the best sphere win. Swap that in. Much more clever. Books.
I play hardcore on vanilla and I personally prefer the 50% moody just for the ambiance.
BUT I keep it full brightness for recording. It seems no matter what I do, by the time the video gets compressed and uploaded to you tube it is always darker then what I saw in game originally.
Now I'm sorta used to having it at 100% brightness and forget about the setting.
Ok.
Say 3 ways in which you can cheat, WITHOUT MODS OR EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS.
Can't think of any?
Thought so.
Sorry but mods are examples of cheating. They are not part of the original game. Using confirmed glitches can also be cheating. It's not bad but it IS cheating your way through.
So that's 2 right? Invisible texture packs. 3. There you go.
No it's not. So what if you can see better in the darkness? Hostile mobs will still spawn. Best way is not to turn brightness up, but to actually use torches

It may defeat the purpose of torches however which is a different story.
HA!
Don't be stupid, you know what he means.
As you are now, so once was I. As I am now, you will soon be. Prepare for death and follow me.
Wrong. Anyone who says this is completely wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.
Well, if your in HARDcore mode why do things to make it easier? It's called HARDcore for a reason :tongue.gif:.

Play creative, or change your settings to make it creative after making it hardcore.
Playing ofc doesn't require it, although I think changing it required notepad but that's not really doing anything more then changing a 0 to a 1.
