When was the first time you found a diamond? First time you built a mob grinder? First time that you explored the Nether?
What other firsts did you really enjoy?
The reason I'm posting this is because I just recently discovered my very first slimes (EVER). While I tend to delve into the ground, mainly at bedrock level ( 6 ), I have never before encountered Slimes.
To be perfectly honest, while I'm typing this I haven't actually seen them yet. I was just mining my way across the bedrock while I heard a weird sound that I had never heard before. Took me a few minutes to realize what it was. I saved and quit to find my slime locator bookmark and narrow down the exact area I'd need to turn into a Slime grinder. Soon as I do that, the 16 blocks that can produce slimes will become a grinder, possibly with multiple layers.
A map and a tunnel to the surface later, I'll build a basic base directly above the Slime grinder, and probably make that my initial headquarters. I'll use Static's and the Slime Finder website.
All that said, I'm VERY excited about this map, because I also intend to do ANOTHER first here pretty soon--explore the Nether. I have NEVER been to the Nether. Well, maybe once in SMP, but only for like 5 seconds if I did--can't remember if I did or not.
