Mining should be toggle-able. Falling damage should be toggle-able. All mobs should be individually toggle-able. And so on.

I personally like the hunger bar quite a lot, but I can understand where people who dislike it are coming from. I don't see anything wrong with a toggle bar.
I personally like the hunger bar mostly because I like getting food. I like making farms and mob killers and stuff like that, so a point to all the food I gather is nice. I do think making it toggle-able would be cool too though.
So I was playing minecraft and was mining (No ****) and i noticed i needed food. Quick. So i ran all the way up to the top and i was thinking "This hunger thing sucks!"
So what i have to propose to the community and Notch is that we add an option to disable the hunger bar but still have the survival mode we all know and love. In my opinion this would improve minecraft for those who enjoy a more simple beta experience, not as much with the adventure and what-not.
Please leave some ideas in the comments. Thankss
Jesus Christ. The hunger bar? I think it goes down way to fast. 5 minutes, then you got to eat again. At the beginning, I thought Notch made Steve like super fat, so he had to eat often, and he added sprinting to the game to get Steve to exercise more. Dumb me.

Sprinting and jumping drain your hunger a lot more quickly.
Try adding stairs or halfsteps to places that you frequently walk over.
Also try NOT JUMPING AND SPRINTING EVERYWHERE. If you were to run as fast as you can and jump around all the time, I think you would only be able to go 1 day without starving to death.
A minecraft day is 20 minutes. The approximate ratio is 24 in game minutes = 24 real life hours. Go try to sprint for 2 hours straight and see if you can still go several days without eating. Not too easy is it?

"There is one they fear, in their tongue he is Dovahkiin, Dragonborn! FUS RO DAH!"
I completly agree. I watched all these videos about the game I go and buy it , first 10 mins i die of starvation and creepers while looking for some bleeping pigs
pigs and cows spawn in bulk, haven't starved to death yet, and it's so easy to just go out and gank them. They also always drop food, instead of being random.
That food is going to run out real quick when you start mining and building, and since animals do not respawn, you're going to walk a long, long way to find more animals.
I started my 1.8 world on my old 1.7 map. I sailed eastward in my land across a great ocean. took about 20 minutes of nonstop sailing to finally hit land and not just islands. I scouted the land and found a suitable place to build a new home for myself. I did all this keeping in mind that there was a hunger bar, which was the reason i didn't make a whole new map because I already had a good sized farm and tons of wheat and bread. While scouting the land and building an entire 2 story house abuot 15x20 plus a basement, i only used about 20 of the 30 loafs of bread. When I went down to 10 peices of food left I made a wheat farm, plus a patch of watermelons. I have never starved do death not even once.
The hunger bar is much better and you won't die from it if you have a little forethought in what your doing.
the only thing hunger has changed about the game for me is, I now have to spend the first couple of days punching tall grass instead of getting 3 or 4 stacks of wood and heading right down to start my branch mine.
Now I just get enough seeds to make a decent sized garden, which isn't that hard as I have yet to find a map, outside of survival island type maps, that doesn't have tons of tall grass around.
And then, once I acquire 2-4 string, it is just a matter of fishing and taking half a stack of cooked fish with me.
If Notch really wanted to make hunger make a difference, he really shouldn't allow food to stack.
The fact that you can now carry a ton of high healing food with you instead of just a stack or three of wheat makes hunger pointless.
Trying to get games written for windows to work on a Linux machine is like trying to put a diaper on an incontinent buffalo. Sure, you might get it all done, but you'll certainly be left with a huge mess, and it's very time consuming.
I love hunger; add's an element to the game that could possibly work with other things in the future. The hunger requires forethought, albeit a very tiny amount. Basically if you plan on adventuring prepare for the adventure. Please don't tell me your going to go on that quest for diamonds with one raw pork-chop and a loaf of bread?
Keep in mind you can stack food now, so your problem now is more just being prepared for when you are going on a long excursion. The food doesn't spoil, and if you really have to, you can eat rotten flesh. I did that once and it turned my hunger bar green while still replenishing it. I wouldn't recommend eating anything again until it does go back to normal color.
There is always creative mode if you do want to turn hunger off.

In the real world, you stick your head in the dirt to hide from problems.
In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.
I think mine is glitched..I haven't eaten any food item, I'm already somewhat far into the game, found diamonds already, and I've still yet to lose 1 hunger bar.
