Thank you! I was a little worried about the small roof design, but I'm glad you liked it!
Aww I was hoping that Windows 10 Edition would be used to make graphical improvements on PC. The pictures I saw before its release made it seem cool. Does it at least have the blocks Xbox and PE are currently missing?
Im not even sure why they made a "windows 10 edition", because in all honesty, very few people will opt for that over the full version of minecraft. Maybe it was for hololens, but who know. IMO, very poor decision of part of microsoft.
Update: I haven't gotten much work done, but I have gotten a house built. Hopefully I'll get the new laptop up and running and I'll be able to really get going.
Alright. About Windows 10 Edition - Beta: it sucks. It's basically xbox/pocket edition for desktop. Why on earth would anyone go for that when it's easier to just go with the original, better PC version anyway?
Srsly, Mojang? Srsly?
Ugh.
I have on reason and one reason only to want to play Minecraft Windows 10:
My nephew likes Minecraft, and only has Minecraft on his X-box. with W10, I can play on the same server as him.
But for personal play, definitely 1.8/snapshots of 1.9
Alrighty, so I finally re-recorded episode 3 (the original confusingly recorded episode 3 had something like 29 fraps-recorded segments. That would have never managed to be edited in a timely manner because of the size of Fraps files). It will (hopefully) be edited and up by tomorrow (Aug 5) evening. It will probably be longer than most because I accidentally reset my phone's timer (the way I keep track of time elapsed) in the middle of it, but maybe you guys can see it as a sort of apology for it being so long since the last episode I uploaded. A lot of things happened in a short amount of time and I got distracted by life. I'll try not to let that happen again, but seeing as how I start online college on Sept 21 it's unlikely I can promise anything.
I guess just know that I have no intention of ever dropping the series on purpose. If too much time passes then expect some form of video or post explaining why and what's going on (sort of like what happened with Cry of Fear only I've not made a public statement on that yet).
Thank you guys for being here and supporting me and this project.
It really means a lot to me.
Seriously. Thank you.

Well, I can't find motivation to work on this that much, so I'll shaft it for a while. I'm eventually gonna return to it, and I'll still be hanging around on the thread, but I won't be working on my own challenge. Sorry to say this, but it has been pretty fun!
I also don't really know about the Windows 10 edition(I play on a mac), though I hear it generates worlds insanely fast.
You're not missing much in terms of Win10 Ed. It's basically where Pocket Edition and Xbox edition got together and made a baby and put it on a PC and called it "done". I'm generally disappointed and don't see the point in making another version for a PC when you can just as easily play the much better PC version. I guess Microsoft just wanted Pocket Edition to work on their phones and tablets. Greedy buttholes.
And that's fine! It's meant to be fun, not a chore! If it's not fun for you anymore, drop it until you want to play again. No hard feelings.

Okay, guys, so the long-awaited 3rd episode is uploading as we speak. The thumbnail is a tiny bit messy because Gimp crashed before I could change the number so I had to write in the 3 instead of typing it. Oh well. Hopefully the episode and everything else will be much more organized in the future.
I will edit this post with a link to the episode once it's uploaded. It's a bit longer than I wanted it to be but hopefully it's still enjoyable.
I'll be attempting the neanderthal challenge and posting updates on here. I'm going to try doing the challenges in the same world so, I'll install the recommended mods anyways. By the way, are there any specific challenges/rules for the mods or do I use them based off the race's suggestions?
You should use them based on the suggestions and what tier each stage allows. So, if you're not allowed to use iron in stage 1, you can't use iron period. If you can't use diamonds or gold in stage 2, you can't use them period. Redstone is the only exception because otherwise you can't do anything and that's a dumb idea.
For right now that's mostly the only part of the challenge not written aside from the rest of the stages in Core.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

I've been following this challenge since it's birth, and I think I'm going to take a crack at it. I'll just need a while to sort out a mod list and everything, and then I will post screenshots of my hamlet/village/town/city/thing.
This is the first stage using the beginner race, complete. I'm having lots of fun with this challenge!

Welcome to Anusville, Minecraft where we have a chicken-squid infestation, someone spawned an enderdragon and now they're being sued for property damage. Please refer yourself to the town help desk with any questions.
I am interested in playing through the challenge and I would like to post my experiences.
I am on the fence on whether or not to play with mods, I have played this game since 1.2, saving the bigger mods for when I got bored of the vanilla.
Strangely enough, so far I have not really gotten bored of it enough to need a new experience that is not in vanilla.
The only problem with this is that I know next to nothing about these mods, and it would probably be better for me to play through them without a challenge first, so I am thinking of doing this challenge in vanilla right now instead until I get a grasp on the mods.
Can I still post here or should I post on the other challenge thread instead? What are the differences between the core of this and the core of the other FBC?
I just completed the first stage of the neanderthal challenge. Here's my progress and some info on the mods I used.
Ars Magica 2
Aether
Ancient Warfare 2
AnimationAPI
Applied Energistics 2
BiblioCraft
BloodMagic
Botania
ComputerCraft
extrautilities
Galacticraft
Industrialcraft 2
LunatriusCore
Mekanism
MekanismGenerators
MekanismTools
Mystcraft
Pam's harvest craft
Rei's minimap
Relinquary
Thaumcraft
The Electrical Age
Twilight Forest
Waila
Waila Harvestability
Wawla
Notes: I didn't include core or util mods on this list since they're basically parts of the other mods. By the time I realized that there were way too many mods for the neanderthal challenge, I had already started and didn't want too corrupt my world by removing them.
And now for my progress
This is where I spawned.
I walked around for a while to find a suitable biome.
Then this happened.
Eventually, I found a place to live.
Finally I could begin building.
My house:
Villager's House:
Miner's House
Butcher's House
Gardener's Lodge
Sheep pen:

Well, that's my progress so far. I'll continue posting my progress on here with pictures. Let me know if you have any suggestions to improve my building.
TNTUnicorn - I've been around Minecraft for about the same amount of time (came in around the 1.2.5 update). And that is great to hear. It can be difficult for some of us to not get bored of vanilla quickly, so kudos to yo for that.
The main difference between Core and the original FCB challenge is the original FCB challenge has a different challenge for every race. That is way too much writing for me and makes it harder to add in other races, so I had the idea to have everyone follow the same challenge but with different restrictions and ideas on what their town should look like which ultimately ends up with us all having different looking towns even though we're all doing the exact same challenge.
I kinda feel honored that you decided to make an account to post here. Thank you! And playing vanilla is not a problem with me, but in the beginning when people were playing I had (at the time) I think 3 people playing vanilla and even more were wanting to which is why I started specifically asking that people try the challenge out with mods (because I was afraid that otherwise no one would).
Good luck!
shadowkirby and kwizzard - Yay! More testers! Yeah, that's a lot of mods for neanderthals, but, oh well. Make do, I guess. As for your houses, kirby, I usually prefer either using slabs or stairs for my roofs but it's all up to you. I also usually have a 1-block overhang all the way around (adds some depth and makes it look nice). Wizzard - I like how you took "lump of stone" literally. And I've fallen for that same trap before. Not on-camera, though, but I have fallen for it.
Great work, guys!

I'm not sure. I was instantly put off by the Gui and shut it down without even making a world to try it.

You know what? FORGET TRADITION!!!
I couldn't resist putting that there.
Anyways... although I'm not as good as some out there, I'm gonna build the neanderthal challenge.
Notice I say build... not play.
(basically I'm gonna do it in creative)
Actually... I lied. Survival, because otherwise the guilt is too much. I'm doing the Beginner Challenge.
Here's the mod list(nothing special, just basics)
Buildcraft (because I'm too lazy to mine)
Chisel 2
Forge Multipart
NEI
Optifine
Tinker's Construct
Thaumcraft
Treecapitator
Various core mods

Okay, finished the 1st stage, completely vanilla! (then again, what's the point of playing modded if you do it that way?)
Well, here it is. With lots of crashing yet not a single creeper crater, my city!
....... this is awkward, Imgur's not working.
Well, guess I'll put it in the attachments. Sorry!
Oh, and the interiors of the houses are all exactly the same.

Thaumcraft
Utility Mobs
