So basically i have discovered that you can make hedges at least 3 blocks tall by using the leaves you can get from shears and logs, like this:








I will post some screenies later but that is basically it.

Yeah for now, leaf blocks, when placed, decay, as if you cut a tree down. However, if you place a leaf block within 3 blocks from a log block, it won't. Apparently placed leaf blocks will never decay in 1.8 though :biggrin.gif:

Genius, The leaves have to be used for something, other then that they are really useless.

That is exactly what i wanted to do you can also make hedge mazes or even a house if done right because on the leaf blocks if you dont put another log they can go one more direction around it.

I was not aware of this but since 1.8 wont be for a while now..........

I've known about this since before leaves could be harvested. I think the first time I saw it was in one of the Shadow of Israphel episodes.

Uh...that was one of the reasons that shears were added...so that players don't have to hack in leaves.

What, why did you think players could get leaves if not to build with them?
It also really helps for making huge tree builds.

I've done this for a while, but with the log more hidden. Nice of you to share your idea though!

As long as they don't get covered in mOLD. This has been known since trees became plantable.

i always thought that being able to collect leaf blocks was stupid because they just went away in a few seconds. But wena i found out about this i started making really cool things such as hedges surroundng my farm rather then a glass room.
