A Pineapple Under The Sea
I use minecarts for transport for items and sometimes I use them to transport me. Most of the time, I ride my horse for transportation purposes. I think horse riding is better for transport because you can quickly change route whereas minecarts, if there's a creeper directly in front of you, you can't change your route. You can only say your last words..... BOOOOOOOOOOM
I use rails all over the main world just because it helps when mapping them out. I know I'm going to be mapping out a whole section of chunks, and the next map is right next to it, etc... So I just build a huge rail line in the overworld everywhere I'm trying to map. In a grid.
Build the complete map, throw the minecart on the track, and go home.. paste the map
I have built nether minecart systems in my older maps, but the latest just has 2*3 tunnels.
In the current one I use one with an automatic item loader and unloader because I have to transport items upwards diagonally, I could use droppers but it would be very laggy. (and very annoying sound)
Automatic unloading is easy, automatic loading is much harder.
Interesting. I'm in the planning stages for a massive, long-term building project to use up all my extra cobblestone (about 100,000 blocks worth with another 30,000 or so needed before it's done) and will likely be using unmanned powered rails to ship the materials to the build site. I typically don't like using that much gold on powered rails, but I can't think of any other way to get large amounts of cobblestone to the location without driving myself batty running back and forth.
I'm not very redstone savvy- could you point out some simple plans or a video tutorial on automatic loading/unloading of minecarts?
