I am REALLY excited to face some endermen...however, I feel their addition has gotten so much hype from Notch - yet it doesn't seem like what one of his priorities would be. I think he would be more focused on adding bosses, and ruins, larger heights, water mobs, aerial mobs, and perfecting Npc's. Thats why I think, besides being just a scary mob with scary abilities...endermen will add something else awesome to the game...that has not been released yet. I bet they drop something awesome, like maybe a way to harness their teleportation...because when you think about there are already ....why add yet another scary mob to avoid? Maybe I'm wrong but just something to think about.
Player teleportation on vanilla single player? No.

Skeletons: Annoying, Zombies: Easy to take care of, Creepers: REALLY annoying (They blow your crap up), Spiders: Only annoying if you're low on health and trying to run, Endermen: Emm, ahh Oh crap this is freakin me out!

Well, the other mobs are scary 'looking', but their mechanics are robotic, walk at you and attack, where as the Endermen will operate in a fairly different way. I'm sure Notch has tons of cool things planned, but other than what we already know, we'll mostly have to guess. You also have a great point, all mobs drop something unique when killed, it will be interesting to see what they drop when killed.
It's typical Notch behavior - adding another useless, semi-exciting mob instead of working on stuff that will actually make the game better. I know 1.8 will consist of many other things than just endermen but instead of making a bunch of hype about a new mob I want to hear about the game changers like the OP said. I'd much rather know that he's working on new world genning, bosses, obstacles to overcome, that sort of thing.

But what if he's not working on bosses or obstacles right now? You don't know what notch is working on. Even if he's confirmed something will be added, that doesn't mean there is any progress on it, so there's nothing for him to tell us about it. And plus, notch did say that the update is mostly a secret until it comes out, so he doesn't want to reveal too much ; D

My point exactly, all we know is that he's adding a new mob, wooooooo... I'm definitely excited for the update and am not hating on the developers, and I'm sure they've got plenty in store, I just hope it's not a huge letdown like the wolf update was. My opinion is that minecraft needs some major changes, especially in world generation and new types of areas to explore - ruins, villages, etc. Get those taken care of and then add new mobs later, maybe through the dlc updates or something.
And of course I don't know what notch is working on, for all I know he could be working on all of the stuff I'd like to see, just can't help but to be skeptical.

ALL about shitcrap endercrap:
endermen would be friendly as long as you don't point the middle of the screen at one of them. They would travel alone commonly. the only move blocks around. they would stare at you if you point at them with the middle dot on the screen if you turn around he would teleport closer to you. They would cut down your health if they reach you. they damage as much as a zombie but are 10X faster at it. **** TO ENDERMEN CAUSE A CHINES MAN JUST HACKED 1.8 AND POSTED A VEDIO F**K THE ENDERCRAP.

Yes, he hacked something that hasn't been released...
Notch isn't really hyping this up too much, we are.
He said, "Hey, here's a picture about a new mob we're working on."
And the internet demanded more.
And Notch gave us more.
And now we're complaining about what he gave us.
Well, hopefully we've gotten past the point of "OMG! Enderman is goin to ruin my stuffs!" I'm just plain tired of seeing threads be all about that. I fully expect that the first time I fight an Enderman, I'm going to get killed, but you know what? There is a respawn button, so it's all good. I get to try again with more knowledge.

whatever...
(except for the fact that you will have to wear a pumpkin if you don't have the balls to fight it)
