So I started building this ocean base a few weeks ago in my survival singleplayer world Skye. The world is made up of floating islands where the ore distribution is reversed compared to normal worlds. For instance, ores aren't present at all below y = 125, and diamond ore starts generating above y = 175. This was done changing the customized options. So because world is mostly one giant ocean I decided to make an ocean base. Currently I'm at 25% of clearing the water:
The water was cleared by creating pockets with sand of 3x5, followed by pillaring down with sponges to remove the water. The plan is to create multiple biomes in the base with a tower in the center where the beacons are. Also, I will add viaduct from the edges to the tower where water will flow in.
Please let me know any ideas for what to do with this base.
(I will upload some more screenshots of some other places of this world later if you're interested)

The plans you have are really good. You can make the under water parts into a fortress with farms and rooms, Maybe some tunnels that lead elsewhere? You could also fit a library in there as well if you want.
The preset I used is shown in the spoiler. You can change the ore/dirt distribution to your liking. I liked it the way shown. Also, this world uses the smallest biome size to create these small floating islands.
Nice idea, man. You're spending real efforts on that thing.... I hate to dry out stuff on survival. I'm working on a huge guardian farm for almost now 20 days. I'm so tired that I kind of got bored from Minecraft for a while.
Yes this is singleplayer. I'll post updates when I make further progress. I try not to work too long on this at a time to prevent it from becoming boring.
I made a world using these settings and there is quite a bit of challenge to it. I was fortunate enough to have an abandoned mineshaft below the island I settled on near spawn, however I have found it's very oddly broken up in sections that don't link up quite often. The 100 dungeon spawn setting made the mineshaft have 3 dungeons attached to it thus far which was very helpful in providing buckets, iron and redstone early on. The sky islands tend to have shadowy overhangs where tons of mobs spawn due to low spawning spaces.
The only slightly disappointing thing about how the ores are distributed in this type of generation is that it feels like you are forced to pillage the largest most desirable sky islands for their ores. But perhaps it just takes some getting used to, I just started that part of the process after all.
All that aside, I have a considerably greater appreciation for what you've accomplished in your world.
The ore distribution is quite challenging so far, but very interesting. I don't use diamonds for armor/tools because it's so rare, so I only get the diamond ones from villagers. Redstone is also traded from villagers. Also I made 2 small iron golem farms to get some iron ingots and a zombie pigmen farm for gold, so those are readily available.
The only big disadvantage of this world is that it wasnt able to spawn a ocean monument. So I had to copy a monument from another world with MC edit.
Most of the ocean bottom is the bedrock barrier over the void. I'm not sure what the generation parameters are for the ocean monuments but it must not be able to generate on it. Coincidentally if you die in the ocean good luck getting your stuff back. The bedrock is so uneven there are a million little crevices your items can fall in and the light is so low it's hard to locate them.

Looks cool!

If it's not too much trouble would you mind posting your custom world generation settings?

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

I hope to see more of your progress when possible. Is it a singleplayer world?
Thank you so much for posting the settings. Looks extremely interesting.

You change gold spawning as well? Or do you have a piggyman farm? It must have taken ages to get all that gold...
Huh. Interesting. Also, must have taken quite a while to clear that water!
Figured it was time for a change.
Wow, and I thought a 25x25 quarry mine was hard! XD Nice job and plans!
Some pictures of the rest of my world. Also made some progress on the ocean base.

I really liked your world and all the challenge.
Why there is no ocean monument?

I think it's because the biome size is set to the minimum, and ocean monuments need quite a large area of deep ocean biome to generate.
so far I haven't found big deep ocean biomes.
Nice view better be on my tippy toes
