1.5 I remember it fondly. We finally got weather! I was pumped. Me an my brother sat by the computer for an hour waiting for every weather. It was like Christmas. I loved thunder the most, it added a survival atmosphere even when you had everything you wanted. But then thunder happened in real life. Just 1 week ago I woke up in the middle of the night to thunder. Half of our windows were open so I took it upon myself to close them. But then the scariest thing happened. Thunder, It struck 3 times in less then a second and it was loud. I wasn't hurt but I was completely terrified. For the week since then there has been no thunder real life and Minecraft. Until yesterday when I was playing with my friend in Minecraft. We were both stuck in the really cool hollowed out mountain. the bad thing was that it was night out...and thundering. I was scared not because of the monsters but because of the thunder. We had no tools so I couldn't get underground, I was stuck. I covered myself with grass but that only with the monsters. I could hear still here the thunder. It's just to realistic sounding. I had to put on some....positive visual stimulation to calm myself.
Now I know this sounds stupid but does anybody think that the thunder sound is to realistic? Maybe we could just tone it down a little.

Why should Mojang change Thunder for one person? Out of 3 million, I don't think many care too much about the thunder and think it's just fine how it is. If you want it changed so bad, mod it so it sounds like the Nyan cat or something that doesn't scare you...
I myself am not scared of the thunder but I know people who are. I doubt Notch would recognize such small settings to implement. The next best thing would be to hope for a no weather mod, or one that just leaves in snow.
You can just delete/change the thunder.
Search on your computer %appdata% -> then go to "Roaming" -> then ".Minecraft" -> then "resources" -> then "newsound" -> then "ambient" -> then "weather" -> and now delete the thunder sounds. :smile.gif:
The game will replace it. You have to put a non-working file with the exact same name (and extension) then make it read-only to stop Minecraft from fixing it.

My Grandmother passed away on Sunday, the 7th of August, 2011. I am taking an extended leave of absence in light of this. My apologies.
I like the way thunder sounds and I''m sure many others do as well. Then there is probably a large chunk that doesn't care. Then there's a group like you, which is the smallest.
Notch won't change one small thing for such a small group. There are plenty of mods that change or turn weather off.
For example, the Optifog/Optimine mod let's you switch weather on and off.
The thunder sound is badass. Hearing it when you're underground is not. Notch and company shouldn't go and edit the sound thunder makes. It should just get quieter as you get further away from the surface.
Oh boo hoo, I'm scared of thunder in a computer game! And not to mention, there are 3 million other people that don't want it changed. What makes you so special? And that "traumatic" experience with thunder? Are you 8 years old? Play on peaceful and mute the game whenever you hear a boom. That or change the sound files.
Now I know this sounds stupid but does anybody think that the thunder sound is to realistic? Maybe we could just tone it down a little.

Nerd, geek, server admin, guy wearing a rainbow skin (with an office suit of epicness)? That's me.

Right ...

Mute the game whenever there's a thunderstorm going on?
Agreed. I don't think it's that hard to change the sound file for it :biggrin.gif:
Google is a tool.
