Yeah...I'm going to be wary of something I have virtually no information about. The Screenshots contain buildings that could have been made by anyone.
Seriously...people are creating huge complicated buildings and theme park worlds and you are worried about a few pre-made houses dropping the frame rate? Whatever.
Oh by the way, the sky is falling too! :smile.gif:
You are being a big ****. A HUGE ****. And I know my dicks, check my signature.
You don't have to be so rude when replying to someone, this is how flame wars often start.
He asked a simple question, he was polite, and you come back with a jerky response.
NOT NICE.
Do you quite seriously think I give a ****?
If somebody asks a stupid question, that for some reason is debatable on this forsaken forum, then I'll tell them off because they obviously don't have the brain to just think of a second.
Do you all really think that villages will be toggleable? How sad, I'll make a thread when 1.8 comes out just so I can laugh at you guys.

Ok, tell that to the masses of people complaining after the update.
He has a point. Quit trying to game on your graphing calculators, nobody every complains in other gaming forums that their computers can't handle the game. People think just because it has crappy looking graphics you can play it on anything. You people need to remember this is also a beta, there will be more features yet and they will cause a drop in frame rate for computers that are older. Quit complaining.

Because I definitely want to spend money on a PC for a $15 dollar game, I'd love to crawl inside one of your heads and see the monkey at the typewriter... I can see it as mandatory on Adventure, optional on Survival.
Hey buddy, here's an idea, buy a better graphics card, install, you now have a better computer!
Also, when did you become psychic and manage to deduce that he gets money off his parents and doesn't actually have a job to get cash to buy newer crap.
ps. reported for swearing
I'm tired of these little shits who think they're so great because their parents buy them everything and that makes them entitled to be annoying bastards. And, you know, swearing is allowed on this forum.

Upgrading your graphics card doesn't always mean your computer will run better, just saying.

Anyways people seem to be too used to Minecraft being a Sandbox game when in reality it was never intended as one, Notch wants to make a full game, not just leave it at a sandbox. Plus I'm sure creative mode will have things like this off anyways.
Also, I don't understand how one can decide whether they want a feature or not when they have never experienced said feature.

And you know his parents buy him everything because...?
Besides, I fail to see how "You can't run Minecraft with villages added, get a better computer" is markedly less mature that "You can't run Minecraft with willages added, so do not add the feature at all and inconvenience the vast majority of players who can."
How long have you been over the minecraft forums?
Notch doesnt give a **** about the community.
This basically. Never say anything about fps on this awful forum. You will almost always be told to "BUY A BETTER COMPUTER OR STFU". You will occasionally get an intelligent respone. Like miauw said Notch doesn't give a **** about the community. The only reason he adds things like pistons is because sales will go down if he doesn't. Regularly I'd say Mojang but Notch has the final word. I don't have the highest fps but I really hate the idea of NPC villages. MC is unique because you are the only one capable of building from the ground up. Then again, every recent update has added trivial items. If Mojang copies anything from Terraria it should be the NPC system. Fulfill a certain requirement and a NPC moves in. Notch himself is probably just gonna troll us and make them spawn everywhere until the 8th patch.
Villages will not be toggleable, get a better computer and shut up.
This has got to be one of the most ignorant, stupid posts I have ever seen.
First off, let's get this straight: (this is just an estimate) Probably about 40-60% of the Minecraft community is under the age of 18. I, (being 14) legally abiding by the laws of my country, can make 85% minimum wage. (around 7 dollars/hour) I cannot even find a job, because of insurance reasons and whatnot. Therefore, my two sources of money are my birthday, and Christmas. They also happen to be polar opposites of one another, (my birthday's in June) so in one year, I could make, let's see, at the very best, $400. Is that enough money to buy a new, good, computer? No.
Secondly, in regards to people over the age of 18, (probably around the 18-25 demographic) times are hard. That's not made up by the media. Jobs are hard to find. Even if you have a job, pay may suck. Some people may also be attending college, which is quite expensive as well. So, do you expect your average citizen to be able to go out tomorrow and buy a 600-1000 dollar computer? Also no.
As stated in a previous post, just because you have a nice computer (whether you bought it or inherited it) it doesn't make you any more intelligent, better, or nicer than any one of us.
Since it's not a mod and will be an actual feature of the game, I doubt the FPS drop could be too bad. Plus I'm sure they're working on optimizing it to run as smoothly as possible anyways. For me, my FPS has improved as the updates come.
Just ignore the sub 100 IQ trolls like tylerthe14 year old (no offense to you other 14 year olds). It's painfully obvious the boy is trying to compensate for his own intellectual bankruptcy and should not be taken seriously for the time being.
As for the topic at hand, I don't think these villages will cause an fps drop as mods which produce similar villages do. The 1.8 villages will not really be adding anything that isn't in the game already. That is, they will be composed of blocks already in the game (perhaps they will include new ones added in 1.8 as well), and for all intents and purposes the npcs will be the equivalent of reskinned zombie pigmen. No doubt they will be generated in a similar way to how dungeons are already generated. None of these things should cause your fps to deviate from it's norm, unless you already suffered fps drops while walking around a cluster of your own creations.
I can't believe some of you are so upset over this. You do know that the game is in beta right? Beta games tend to "get better" and "need more resources" as the game gets larger and more feature filled. Look at a game like World of Warcraft. That game has gone through some intense engine/graphical overhauls in the past several years and I'd be damned if the first computer I played it on could even move around in a major city anymore. Villages will be a new feature of the game whether your computer can handle it or not. Do not expect the world to wait for you to upgrade, that is just ignorant.
NPC Villages would be awesome, I say. So far my only interaction with actual organisms in this game has been with monsters, and I don't think skeletons really count as organisms... Anyways, it would be interesting to have a sort of karma system, sort of like with zombie pigmen in the nether, but more in depth. If these places are such an issue for you, then fire cleanses all :smile.gif: or high explosives :smile.gif: :smile.gif: Besides, they probably have good materials. Imagine being able to shop without mod plugins. Like Terraria, But plus one dimension and minus all of the Eaters of Souls
I thought I had brought up a very good topic for the community, when I am flooded by people that think every computer that can't pull 60-80FPS on minecraft needs to be updated, or we should just stop playing it.

strange. recently i went from 20-40 fps to 60-200fps... yes 200 fps... i still get really bad fps with builder or mileniere mod (failspell) im sure notch will optimise his villages better then milleniere mod, but still, i would like to be able to toggle it, we can disable ambient occo shadows, and even rain sounds, i think it would be good for older computers to disable or hide villages, people do lack common sense on the forums, i mean, people cant even install a simple mod, mods are EEAAASSYYY to install, we will have people trying to run this game on an intigrated card, but for the other people with real computers, that are rather old it would be great for them to toggle it, hell, im running an 8600gt duel core 3.0 2gigs or 3gigs of ram and im getting 60-200fps after updating....
PS: i run minecraft on normal distance with ambient occo and graphics on highest.... im not one of THOOOSE people....

Terraria usually outclasses MC anyway.

I have a fairly new laptop.
Lenovo 3000 N100 (2009)
3 GB RAM, 2.0 GHz Processor
Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.
(Don't say it sucks. I don't care. Many others have worse ones. I got this for $300 off of some guy on craigslist)
I still only get 40 fps on fast, short, though.
Yes, toggling would be nice.
