Reporting a post:
-No need to bother telling the offender you reported them, it doesn't help the staff in any way and can only lead to problems.
-Don't respond to flaming and trolls, much less flame them back. Ignore, report, move on
Spam - TL;DR, +/-1, one word responses, memes, imageposts, doubleposts, etc.
Is the true reason it should be reported.
OT: zchryfrk's reason it one of the most plausible explanations.
I play on the exact same smp situation (private withonly 2 freinds) and if your not just being a troll, then your freinds are trying to mess with you. Personally, I think this whole post should just be gotten rid of
Excluding the x-ray theory of finding diamonds, it's still possible to spot diamonds in chunk errors, where an entire chunk disappears. Doesn't seem unlikely for someone to just dig straight down, harvest the diamonds, cobble their way back up again, and eventually as time passes forget (or conveniently "forget") that they did it entirely. Especially since the tower stopped BEFORE it reached bedrock, and diamonds are more common in layers higher up.
Check if the cobble-tower is at the intersection of two chunks. Easiest way would be checking the coords on the blocks immidiately surrounding it, and see if any of them can be divided by 16.

The most wonderful thing about science is that it doesn't ask for your faith, it asks for your eyes. The universe doesn't care about what you believe.
'm believing you, It could be an error where lava did spawn on water, but then again, like Nate_Monster said, "Idk where the obby block would be".
I've seen alot of crazy things happening in minecraft worlds, and because cobblestone cannot spawn naturally with the exceptions of dungeons and lava mixed with water,
This....this could be HEROBR- I mean... Chuck norri- Chunk error. This would be the only possible answer unless your "Trusted" friends are not lying. But who would make a cobble tower and NOT mine minerals? A really GOOD troll. Hehehe....
This happened to me too, I was just searching it up and found this but I'm playing in a single player world and there should be no one else here. So the prank theory couldn't have been the cause of this.
He isn't lying. I recently experienced this in my hardcore single player world. I was randomly mining for iron (I had created the world like 2 minutes ago), and then there would be random cobblestone pillars that were usually 1x1x5s, or 1x1x3s. I 100% believe you.
Edit - For anyone who wants to know, I was using the sunflower field template, and then i located a large whole which was a cave entrance, and travelled around it for a bit.
