I think that the new pistons are much better than the mod version. I used to have the mod, but it just felt overpowered when for a few pieces of iron I could have infinite cobblestone generators (that automatically break the cobble) and be launched into the air. The mod just didn't feel minecrafty enough.


And for everyone whos mad about this thread, I see lots of threads complaining about the new pistons, so I think a compliment is due. Jeb probably spent a lot of time redesigning these so they fit into minecraft. If he took them directly from the mod, it would be stealing and it just wouldn't feel right in minecraft.

Well, I personally like it like it was. So I installed a package from the mod to enable it to push blocks again! 8D

I don't have a problem with that, thats what everyone who is complaining about it SHOULD do.

I think the new pistons fit a lot better into minecraft then the piston mod.

i fixed that in the op.

i like what notch did implementing them but everyone thought it was going to be like the mod version so thats why alot of people are disapointed

I'm not disappointed, I think it's actually kind of funny that people are hating not being able to make sand waves anymore :tongue.gif:

i love the new pistons and the changes Jeb did. the one thing i would like him to add back is not the ability to shoot you in the air or sand in the air, its the ability to shoot TNT and make TNT cannons... *sob* could've made servers alot cooler and stuff.

To my knowledge you can still create infinite cobble generators.

Then again, I'm still on 1.6 because SPC still hasn't ****ing updated.

The Mod ones seemed a little too overpowered. New ones are way better.

It's not just about sand you know, with the mod version, you have a better controlled tnt cannon. Not only that but you have a faster elevator then say a water elevator.

I agree. The giant steely things were a tad out of place.

Ability to push other pistons > Ability to throw sand

The piston mod was pretty cool (especially that wave machine featured on the front page a while back) but the new ones are definitely cool in my book. Although it can be tough to get slime balls for sticky pistons, that difficulty makes them better balanced. Unless you get lucky, you need to do a lot of mining to find slimes.

Mostly, but I'm attached to the mod pistons. I just like the mod pistons more.
