I've been walking towards the Far Lands since about a week before the 1.6 update. As most of you probably know, a torch placed on the edge of the Far Lands will cause passive mobs to spawn at a phenomenal rate. However when I arrived this morning, it didn't work. I tried everything I could, traveling around the edge of the Far Lands- but it just wasn't working.
So I went to the version history on the Minecraft Wiki and spotted this:
*Fixed animals only spawning near light during the night.
So now ALL of my mob traps are broken, just because Notch wanted passive mob spawning at night to make "sense" or some ********. Every world that I've ever had is ruined because the first thing that I did in every one was start a massive, efficient mob grinder in the Far Lands. What am I supposed to do now, start yet another new world? I traveled dozens of real life days and nights, just so I could see that my trick no longer works? Am I expected to gather my resources legitimately now?
Why do all the awesome bugs have to be fixed? This bug was USEFUL and IMPORTANT and it doesn't have to be "fixed" because nothing in Minecraft has to make sense we could have giant flying purple watermelons that shoot fireballs and it would fit into Minecraft because Minecraft has no theme and it would be AWESOME and USEFUL and make the game more INTERESTING.
Seriously, this bug was my sole reason for playing Minecraft. And now that it's gone, I don't know what to do with my life. It's all your fault Notch. Days of holding the "w" key and spacebar down, all for nothing.
So you've started multiple worlds where you walked to the far lands just to have an efficient mob spawner?
... I don't remember there being a difference between only 1 torch on grass in the Far Lands and in the "normal world" in the first place.
Although I'm still not happy with this change. <.<
You know, instead of complaining, think about better ways to get friendly mobs for a sec.
They spawn on grass, and only grass. This you could use to your advantage.
Oh by the way, to give you another clue: Water on top of a grass block, turns it to dirt and keeps it dirt until removed.
Now go ahead and think :happy.gif:

A double resolution graphics pack that stays faithful to the originals.
*download mcedit
*open world
*put down mob spawners
*kill them
*boom, 800 hours of you life saved plus mobs spawn rapidly again...
Ever so slightly.
I'd get the same thing just on the grass inside my old hobbit house.

Your comments are gold... It made this whole thread worth reading just for that.
