Be honest. Answer the poll questions correctly. There is no judgment in this thread (well, there may be, but please try not to).
I hope the results are interesting to everyone.
Oh, and if you only used INVedit once and didn't like it, you can still select "no". It's mostly based on what you would consider doing more than once.
INVedit sometimes...rarely, though.
I use single player commands for building massive things and testing out new stuff.
MCEdit...I've used it once or twice.
I use python scripts to plant extra-large trees and add floating islands to my SMP map for my players to enjoy.
I use MCEdit to clean up the trees and fix some lighting issues that result from the script's not properly doing lighting.
I also use MCEdit on my 'sandbox' world dedicated to trying out rail+redstone devices with unlimited resources.
However since all the methods I use only work on the data files and not the binary, I do not actually hack the game at all. (mods = hacks, map editors != hacks)

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
I use INVedit all the time, as well as about a dozen mods that add content. coral, transmitters, pistons, ect. ect. I haven't used MCedit or any x-ray textures or stuff. the way i see it is my building shouldn't be limited by decades long mining expeditions to get enough Redstone or iron. that and i really like the things i can do with allocators pipes and what not. unfortunately, because of all the small mods I've got, I cant get the big ones like nether craft or plastic craft ,to work. I'm pretty sure that it has mostly to do ID# conflicts. so... if any one knows how to edit the item IDs on mods once you have downloaded them that would be great.

Since I play exclusively SSP I don't cheat at all, and since I cannot code I don't hack either, ( not getting into a definitions/semantics debate either, I just don't regard using tools/mods on SSP as cheating, and don't get me started on the common misuse of the term 'hacking' :wink.gif: ).
However I do use SPC on occasion for the fly command, for getting a good screenshot it's sometimes invaluable, I also use Loleditor when starting a new world, for a starter set of diamond tools, ( I'll replace them in-world with mined diamond if I find them when exploring), SPC and Loleditor are about it though, I enjoy the challenge of exploring a nice seed for sites of interest, so I try to get everything else by myself. I like the joy of finding stuff, don't see why it has to be the hard way however :wink.gif:
I use LolEditor but chose InvEdit since it is pretty much the same thing I think, not seen InvEdit before but it is just an item editor I think.
I use MCEdit.
I have 3 legit worlds no hacks at all. 2 test worlds(one flat, one normal) where almost everything is hacked. Then I have 1 mix world which I don't play on anymore really.
Hmm, interesting point.. In a game where Map Editing is almost the entire point of it, is a map editor 'cheating'... Hmmm...
Well, yes.
The point, as you said is to 'edit' your surroundings, but the point is that you experience it. Map Editors sort of take that away from you.
I use Single Player Commands in all of my games. In 100% legit games, I hardly use it at all. To build my redstone creations, I use infinite items, WorldEdit, etc...
For most of my games, I use a few timesaving devices. The current project is a sky base, with literally nothing on the surface. I'm enjoying building it, but I have so little time to play each day. So I used SPC to turn of item damage and fall damage. I don't have to spend my time branch mining to find diamonds for tools (which I find tedious anyway). I dig up every block I place, and I don't hack the tools directly into my inventory. If I want a diamond shovel for the game, I have to go find a diamond to make it. If I want smooth stone, I have to go dig for coal.
I turn off fall damage because my clumsiness has caused more rage quits than anything in the game ever could. I'm trying to enjoy playing my game, not have an aneurysm.

So those people who yell at (quote unquote) cheaters, assuming that "cheaters" are a minority, are in themselves a minority! :ohmy.gif:
I think it is fair to assume that people who are active on the forums are much more likely to pick up a program like InvEdit than the vast majority of players who have never even visited this site. Do you honestly believe over a million players use/used these programs actively?

So what you're saying is that it is not okay to judge people for what they do, but it is okay to judge for what they think?
Don't use INVedit.
Don't use "cheating" mods.
Don't use map editors.
Don't use mods that make the game easier.
Don't use mods in general.
This last one may change though. I dont like the idea of using mods manually and potentially breaking something I havent any idea how to fix. However, I may use a few non game-changing (for the most part) mods like More Stairs (where the hell are stone and sandstone, maybe brick, stairs?!), More Paintings, an implementation of seasons if it came about. Ambience mods, ultimately. I dont have a problem with those. I'd just have to get past my hangup of having to manually mess about with my game file. As of right now, I dont wish to use any mods at all, not having a gui to do so.
Or there just isnt all that much new news. There's some, sure, but not that much. Maybe each time there is a new update. Forums would be fairly static and sort of boring though if we didnt have some chatter about fairly common things, even if we have some flavor of them before.
I hope the results are interesting to everyone.

Awesome ideas (not mine):
The Aether
Oceancraft
Geocraft
Farmcraft
Google these to find out what they are!
More than 50% of responses in the cheating mods and inventory editor polls are for cheating, not against!

Obviously because people love old news. If it was up to the masses we would just hear that Osama Bin Laden is dead over and over and over again.
I'm quite the shady customer.
