My friend dared me to go to sleep in the nether. I did.
The explosion from the bed was really not that big, and I only lost one and a half hearts.
Then I realized that I could use it to my advantage. I stored all my items in a chest except a bed, about 20 torches, and a stone pick (for getting out of the hole that I had made.) And it worked beautifully. When I finally finished, I had six stacks of 64 netherrack.
Please tell me what you think of my technique!
I figured out, completely original.
Any ways that I could make my technique better, or constructive criticism would be fantastic.

Actually, that's the best mental image ever. A dying, drowning man stuffing his face from a massive wall of cake, and carving out a monstrous underwater cake picture. I'd pay to watch that irl.

Really?
This is what is referred to in 1.6 patch notes as "Fixed beds in Nether"
MANY MANY people have already used it to mine fast netherrack/soul sand. So you are not original, troll more...
I posted about this yesterday but my post was regarding the fact that it USED to deal 1/2 a heart in damage but since yesterday it now insta-gibs me from full hp suggesting the half-heart damage was a mistake and they are now properly "fixed"

and no it does not aggro zombie pigmen.
FYI the explosion radius is also larger than TNT and since netherrack has very low explosion resistance (like sand) you can get a stack of netherrack in about 20sec (2 beds).
Seriously though if you want to know more about it theres a search button
if not a troll, you must be ridiculously stupid to think about forcing people to give credit for this. Now, do I have to give credit to the guy who invented strip mining?
