'I didn't have any other choice' Sure you did. you DON'T play the game, you go WITHOUT.
You didn't HAVE to steal it, yes steal.. you simply do without it.
I agree except for the part about stealing. Pirating and stealing (in my opinion) should be classified as two different things. They are truly very different things.
Not many people understand today that if you can't afford something or something else, you go without instead of pirating. Pirating Minecraft is very, very low morally. It's an indie game.
Oh, well because of lag and such I just use signal player :S
But even before i pick which one if i let it run for about 10 mins it will show it on the screen just like the op's pic :sad.gif:
...but yeah pirates have already removed this for their copies soo its only effecting people who paid for an account sooo yeah *sadface* :sad.gif:
related note: some mod says is checks ips O.o soo confused now >.<
Well I highly doubt he locked accounts to 1 IP because most people have Dynamic IP addresses (meaning they change, most about every 30 days). This message should only trigger if:
1) more than 1 IP is logged into 1 account
2) Your account loses connection with the authentication server while logged in.
That's how I understand it, and this way makes the most sense.
It would be nice if pirated version wouldnt work, and there would be something like one weeks trial. I played too first time on my friend and he had pirated version of mc. But now I have bought this game for 4 of my friends.
People are lucky if its 1 week after the game is out before someone pirate's it. Heck even W0w has pirated accounts. Not much anyone can do about it....its not like the Internet police will start knocking people's doors down and shooting their computer's with shotguns now :/
Besides Notch said he likes pirates as it just has people buy the game ._. (as noone likes the short demo)

I run around in forests with giant branch clippers and break branches and raid junk in the forest.
wow pwnage m8
this is not going to stop pirates >.>
this is just a simple nag to get them to buy the game. There have been many attempts to stop piracy but it just ruins things for people who buy the products because pirates have always been able to circumvent the anti piracy measures. You people keep shouting for stricter measures against pirates but it will just come back to bite you in the ass.
The problem is PIRATES REMOVE THE DRM to their copys :/ So again only people who actually BOUGHT the game are effected by this bs. Notch is just annoying the hell out of the users who bought the game with that message while pirates dont have that problem.
Notch DONT punish the users with crappy DRM like this when we paid for the game just because someone pirates it as they dont have to deal with that as they rip the drm out.

Exactly this. Piracy can't be stopped, so there's no point in trying. The only way to prevent piracy is to make a game that's worth paying for.
Also, piracy is good for trying games before you buy them. I pirated Minecraft before I had the money for it. When I realized how much I liked it, I decided to buy it. Piracy is a good thing for developers -- it's free advertisement.
Yet another edit: I also pirated Terraria and Oblivion. I might buy Terraria, but I got bored of the pirated version already, so I might not. I pirated Oblivion for PC because I already bought it for Xbox 360. I'm not going to buy the same game twice just for mod support. If I were a developer, I would encourage people to pirate my game before they buy it.
I believe the "or logged in from another location" means that this copy of minecraft was also being used on another pc at the same time. I have already played on 3 different pc's today ,on different connections,(not at the same time) and not had this message pop up.

I pirated the game because I have been broke for almost a YEAR NOW. So I have been playing the game, waiting for money to go into my pockets. Hopefully that job-email will come in. How hard is it to get 15 dollars to an idiot like me who sits in front of a screen all day? VERY HARD.
It's a small bit of code once removed stops this bs >.> pirates already cracked this within the first day ._. soo yeah nice fail notch. Just remove this crappy DRM already
This will be cracked within a couple of hours. If they wnt to fight piracy they should include their measures in the gameplay. Like all wooden structures mysteriously start burning after two hours, massive amounts of creepers attacking you, if you mine diamond it drops nothing, after you swam 10 minutes all water turns to lava.
**** Yeah.

Do you think there should be options no lag and lag in minecraft?
If you don't pay then you DON'T play. its very very simple.
Piracy is theft, if you play it and didn't buy it you are a thief, a common criminal, now I would rather go without a game than be that, but I was brought up to have a decent moral standard.
Think about it like this: If you go into a bookstore with a notebook, and copy a book word for word by hand, did you steal the book? No. The book is still in the bookstore. It's still available for someone else to buy. The bookstore loses nothing.
Piracy is the same thing. You download a copy of something. The original is not destroyed.

I cant tell if you are being sarcastic or if you don't understand how people pirate minecraft.

Here's the one I wanted to post originally, but couldn't find: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/03/02/notch-on-piracy-if-a-pirated-game-is-a-lost-sale-should-bad-reviews-be-illegal/

Don't put words in others mouths
Not playing the game isn't an option of playing the game
