The new "bugs" will all be gone within a day. Most are gone already.
No, they've merely been replaced with new ones.
And considering how long it took to fix these two "bugs", and the bugs that resulted from the attempt, let's not be so hopeful. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, but we'll just see.
The people who truly care about their minecart systems will adjust them to the powered tracks. The people who want to go up fast will adapt by other means than water elevators.
Apples and oranges, there. We were given a means to replace the minecart boosters. No such official replacement has been provided for a means of rapid vertical ascension.
And the people left complaining are the ones sitting around on their thumbs not trying to be creative in the least and letting others do the adapting for them. :tongue.gif:
No, those people have been complaining all this time about what the creative people did. There's nothing "creative" about waiting for bug fixes - but people who waited for powered rails while others made minecart boosters are the ones who actually let others (in this case, Mojang) do the adapting for them.
Who's really at issue here? The ones who were creative and made something fun and useful, or the ones who couldn't/didn't and gladly traded the devil we knew for the several we didn't?

Meh, he'll probably make a rising block sooner or later anyways. Like a hyper extending piston, or something.
For the time being, stairs looked better in the first place.
And then I must repeat.
He will eventually make a rising block, so for the time being, stop being lazy and use the stairs.
Look i understand ultra-realistic games may be problematic for some, but being able to swim against falling water and gravity is just absurd. I'm thankful they gone. Or perhaps we can start exporting the idea that waterfalls behave like stairs, or elevators in other games and do away with the need for such thing.
Hopefully somebody will mod minecraft and call it whimsicalcraft where you can swim up waterfalls
You left out "we get to watch sarcastic twits whine endlessly on the forums" from the poll options. Isn't the entertainment value here alone worth it? :wink.gif:

I vote for "The wild overreactions to such a minor change provide much entertainment"
In fact I think it would be good if the forums were modified to include this as an option in all polls
I'm pretty sure all the bugs you mentioned dind't occur because notch removed your precious water elevator and boosters.
Given that this was supposed to be a "bugfix update", and given that basically the only things he added were maps and hatches, the new bugs either:
A ) Come from the new things that were added, or
B ) Come from "fixing" previous bugs.
If the former is the case, I'll ask: are the bugs worth what was added? If the latter, I'll ask: Do you like the new bugs better than water elevators and minecart boosters?
I'm sure even the people who were in favor of these changes could not possibly say they prefer losing their equipped item when using a bed, or watching their tools break just because they picked them up again...
Does the lack of watervators affect already saved maps. I ask this to see if it has affected anyone else, because my watervator works perfectly, in fact now I can do it without a boat and am a lot faster.
Man you guys can sure complain a lot. Get over it. It's a bug, the game isn't ruined. If it is a bug then don't get so used to it.
Notch calling a feature he decides to remove a bug sounds like an easy way to remove anything he damn well pleases. If people complain that we can't get seeds form soil anymore he can simply say it was a bug which needed fixing.
Cart boosters which were the std way to power minecarts became redundant when new boosters were created. Removing the old system made sense to me but calling it a bug doesn't. It was a feature for ages, its now obsolete just like soil seeds.
I get so sick of reading posters justify every removal of a feature by pulling out the 'its a bug get over it' statement. Water elevators were a feature. How it can now be called a bug just because its been removed is just plain stupid.
Lapis Lapusi doesn't serve much purpose, suppose Notch decides to remove it in the next update. Will that have been a bug too? You can bet some people will say it was.
It doesn't make since for them not to work, that would mean you couldn't surface from deep water if you happened to step in it, meaning you would drown.
Here we are, a day later, and it looks like you were wrong.
You're right. I should apologize. My bad. I said he'd have them fixed in a day. Looks like since he's working on them now, it'll be a day and a half instead.

Patience is a virtue lost to days gone by it seems. Apparently, less than 48 hours is more than an eternity for some people.
I'd say his bug fixes will be out before the end of the day from this post, but whatever. It'll probably be a day and 30 seconds and you'll find reason to nit pick about that too. :tongue.gif:
My point still stands, regardless. The supposed "game killing" bug fixes that you're so over hyped about are getting fixed within a matter of days. Most have been fixed within a matter of hours.

Hey, don't blame me if you're the one making overly hopeful predictions - and trying to back them up with your long months of game experience.
Yes, many bugs get fixed pretty quickly. Some get fixed in a day, most get fixed in a week... but the "bugs" (as you call them) that we are talking about have been here since Alpha and only now are they being "fixed". Sadly, history sides with the skeptics on this one.

Imagine that - wanting the "bugfix update" to actually fix more bugs than it creates!

I never said they were "game-killing", I said that they broke things and deleted items - and that they did so at the cost of crushing emergent gameplay, which should be the ideal virtue of a sandbox game. If you think my reply seem "hyped" then you're overly sensitive.
If people who want a self-proclaimed bugfix update to actually fix more bugs than it creates are being unreasonable in your opinion, then you're the sort who will be satisfied no matter what goes wrong. That's not exactly the sort of person whose opinion should be heeded in the development cycle.

Even if it was a bug, it was a HUGE HUGE HUGE part of the game for some people. Whole cities and systems have been ruined by the update.
No, they've merely been replaced with new ones.
