Please let me know as well about the texture pack question, and the guide style question, above
I've put off my research threads until after the update, so I want to create an Architecture Guide. Let me know what you would like to see and I'll start on the most popular option.
I think wood and fences etc. have some awesome applications in Minecraft, I particularly like to build something which doesn;t upset the space to much.
I would like Modern or Roman, but I really want to know how to make Japanese/Chinese/Oriental style buildings like pagodas and dojos. If there's already a guide, can someone pm about it?
Id be interested in seeing some practical dwarven settlements and structures rather than capital cities. Been working on a sort of outpost with as little as possible on the surface (just a small dome). Laying out a small village in a cave without extensive excavation and still having it look like a settlement is a challenge.
I'd like to see some elven buildings, spires and all. I'm always better at building horizontally than I am vertically... unless it's straight down in a cave.

I've never built anything Oriental, but I'll give it a shot at some point.
I voted Colonial, but if I could, I'd have voted for anything but Medieval. Whenever I try to build anything non-Medieval, it comes out either incredibly ugly, or Medieval anyway.
I think part of the reason is that the default textures have a rough feel to them, kind of non-refined. That lends itself to Medieval construction by default.
Somewhat self advertisement, buy I've made some tutorials which you've maybe already seen and many people seem like them. So I would recommend creating your post like mine with many pictures and good descriptions.
Also, I voted for Roman!
I would love to do Roman, but the people have spoken. I'll have to save it for later. I have seen your threads, they are very nice. I'm trying to decide how I will present mine, because I don't want to end up with huge posts with dozens of images, but I can't record video... I guess bloated with screenshots is the way to go then :tongue.gif:

I voted for dwarven architecture because we started a dwarven city on our SMP server and I'm running out of design ideas.
The larger buildings will be build into the cave wall but smaller buildings should cover the two lower levels with streets between them. My goal is to build everything in a way that allows you to see the central spire from pretty much any point in the city. Any help with ideas would be appreciated very much!
I've been thinking about Elven and Dwarven, will be fun to do when I get to it.
I know it makes the most work for you, but I'd love to see the general principles and guidelines laid out, and then two or three examples showing different ways to build using those guidelines.
I wonder why the Phoenix Texture option is less popular... Seeing how that means waiting a bit longer but having AWESOME shite <3
I can understand not wanting to feel your building is dependent on a certain texture, people might not want to have to change texture packs for every world. I might just do it anyway though :wink.gif:
Strange you have to delete your vote to vote the new questions, at least as far as I can see. Voted the Phoenix texture though I cant seem to find a link to what it actually is.

There isn't one yet, but it would be a unique texture pack for each architectural style. The idea is you might have a modern world, and always play it with a modern texture pack.
I think you should not make a guide/tutorial just for 1 specific texture pack but for minecraft in general. There are certain points in which you can add that would work with most texturepacks. For example modern day houses consist of a lot of glass, this would apply to most texturepack. Of course making a guide/tutorial would be ratjer vague compared to the texturepack specific guide/tutorial.
My point is to provide specific architectural tutorials. For instance, modern and post-modern are very different, although in layman's terms modern can apply to anything 'contemporary'. I will make the specific style tutorials, I was just wondering if people would want accompanying, architecturally correct, texture packs to go with them.
I voted Fantasy but honestly any kind of in-depth floor plans for all the architectural options would be amazing, especially since most of my buildings are lacking in design and functionality.
I voted for the fantasy/elven/dwarven style. I like the whole middle earth design and would like to see a tutorial on how to implement it.
I just checked out the modern architecture tutorial that you made and like it. I liked how you outlined what makes it the style and gave tips on how to implement that. I also liked the one example so that I can figure out others on my own.
I'm looking forward to whatever guide you may do, since I have hit a bit of builder's block (you know, like writer's block). Really I'd be happy to see any of the styles, and hopefully over time maybe get to see a guide on all of them. As for the polls, I don't really care either way about the texture pack. I would prefer option 3 for the layout though, since I'm the type of person who doesn't really plan the whole building out, I just wing it as I go.

Thanks for voting.
I guess this Desert home is a good example:
I guess I'll start with Modern. :smile.gif:

Egyptian will be easier for me to do once I finish my Egyptian city, I'm still working out some of the construction details.

Did you know that 61.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot? OT: Modern is difficult due to the texture pack, we'll see what to do about that.
Hmmm... that looks interesting, kind of a blobitecture/deconstructive style. Nice.
It definitely is a style, I just decided to limit my choices. I love Victorian and Tudor houses.
I've been thinking about Elven and Dwarven, will be fun to do when I get to it.
By the way, your guides are awesome.

Have been trying to build a few, but they don't work out well for me.
I want to try connected tree houses next :smile.gif:
