So this poll was not made to make a suggestion. I was simply interested in what people would want an ore to do if a new one was added. If you have a name for said ore that would be great. I for one would enjoy emeralds for weapons tools and armor. In the ranking of weapons and Armour it would go like this
1. Diamond
2.Emerald
3.Iron
4. Gold
5. Wood and leather
I would love the look of emerald if it were introduced
Actually a good question, really. I think some sort of gemstones would be neat, perhaps for some sort of decoration. Or accessories? I know we can customize our skins and all that, but fancy hats or coats would be awesome.
Or, perhaps you could combine armor/weapons with the gemstone to make a more powerful version, maybe adding an effect even.

I would want it to be realistic, like iron thats stronger than diamond.
LOL...... you aren't serious are you?
Maybe like a Hellstone ore from The Nether that is better for certain things. Perhaps the sword would set enemies on fire, the armor might have the same effect when you're hit. The other tools would be pretty standard except for setting things on fire. Maybe the armor makes you immune to lava, but drains the durability when you are in the lava.
Perhaps more types of crystals in the new "Sky Dimension" that you can use to pimp your tools or give them special powers.
EG. Sapphire + Any tool = Frost tool that freezes water upon impact. Topaz + Any Tool = Lightning tool that becomes super powerful during thunder storms.
How would a new type of iron that is stronger than diamond be considered realistic?
Because iron is stronger than diamond.
And i know you will say, " Diamond is the strongest mineral " and you would be right, but in a pick-Axe scenario, diamond would shatter into a million pieces. Trust me, my father was a jeweler for about 20 years.
Exactly. You could also combine gems to create other gems, kinda like the dye system now. Maybe to more common ones add a small buff, but the rarer ones make instant kill weapons or invulnerable armor.

When I first read this I thought INVULNERABLE ARMOUR? That's dumb. But I realized you meant Armor that wouldn't break. But then for that they would have to make it less effective.
I also think that a rare ore that you could turn into a gel and use to repair like 10% per use would be cool. It would either be really rare or you might need more of it for higher tier weapons. That way you couldn't keep your diamond tools forever
I think something really cool to add would be carriages. If horses or donkeys or w/e were ever added, carriages would be the best thing to travel by. Or maybe dogsleds that you could use over snow.
It could be faster than walking, you could put a chest inside one, and it would be slightly slower than a horse.
It could be made in a crafting table like...
[empty][wood][empty]
[wood][empty][wood]
[wood][wood][wood]
and then wheels made like
[empty][wood][empty]
[wood][empty][wood]
[empty][wood][empty]
and then the whole thing is made like
[empty][carriage][empty]
[wheel][empty][wheel]
And you attach it to the horse/donkey by right clicking it with it in your hand.
It could be however someone thinks it should be. But it would be really cool, like a mine cart that could go wherever!

Ok lets clear this up, as the above post states, diamond used in a pickaxe would shatter into a million pieces, but it is the strongst material that can A) hold its for under earth's gravity or :cool.gif: has been discovered. The most effective cutting tools use diamond or near diamond strenght embedded in the cutting device. And just so you know, the diamonds used in jewelry have less tolerance for stress than the even more expensive industrial diamonds used in all manner of tools, But I'm betting you already knew that neonisthecoolest. Barylium, titanium, and tin would have to be crafted together in a special way to make this new material, that I just learned existed( will now need to reaserch this). almost all material that are considerd as hard as diamond use titanium to make, and titanum has a long, arduos, and dangerous process to become purified and usable for most things.

They would make a great knife, but really, imagine a not-so thick tool made of diamond, which isn't as dense as iron, as a pick. And in minecraft, you don't use "industrial diamond" you use raw diamond found underground that used to be carbon until superheated. That's what this statement was about. Science now days has made plenty of super-strong component.
I'd like some tools and armor, but maybe some ore unique to minecraft (like redstone) that's original and has some special effect for corresponding tools and armor, such as fire/freeze/shock effect on a mob with a sword crafted by the ore, or a chance of a higher yield rate from mining ores with a pickaxe crafted from said ore.

Actually, that's the best mental image ever. A dying, drowning man stuffing his face from a massive wall of cake, and carving out a monstrous underwater cake picture. I'd pay to watch that irl.

To be honest, I think we have enough tool & armour minerals. I mean, come on. You have wood, leather, stone, iron, gold, and diamond. What purpose would it serve? I think a new mineral would need to impliment something new and creative. Magic has always been an interesting thought to me. It shouldn't be TOO overpowered, but I do thing it would open up new doors in Minecraft, and open more doors to modding and servers and such. However, I do <3 emerald and I think this would be a nice "magic" gemstone.

Kind of like an enchantment of sorts?

... So your dad made a diamond pick axe?
It would be impossible to make a diamond pick, there isnt a diamond big enough.
And he knows alot about this stuff.
