OT: I really like this, though I have seen better ones.
Then again, it's not finished yet, so I'll haveto wait and see! I <3 the wall's walkway :smile.gif:
Great,
I like The using of Snow in the walls instead of wool :biggrin.gif:
It was an obvious choice, considering its in a snow biome and weather : ) Though I miss my alpha snow worlds...

Thanks! The pictures so far show only the pagoda section of the castle. I guess Shikoku Castle is an appropriate term, more like Shikoku Castle-Town. I'm using this picture as reference:

Haha! Nice work, man. Acutally, I got the same idea after playing through shogun 2 too :tongue.gif: so I built this one (I was op:d on a server though so I didn't have problems with material): http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/29/japcastlecraft.png/
Cool castle you got there! DId you use glass for the windows?
Update:
Extended the wall + added 1 more tower
I'm in a dilemma here. Should I keep the torches on the rooftops or should I remove them. I've tried using a custom painterly pack but the lanterns look VERY wierd on the roofs but I don't want monsters dropping down on me (especially creepers)
Work to do:
-Finish the pagoda section
-Start work on main castle + courtyard
-Make a permanent tree farm
Very nice work! Just very nice. I have to say that large multi-sectional log homes and decking has been my favorite construct. And I love to make gravel pit zen gardens. Nice attention to clean design. Love the night scenes!!
After playing some Shogun 2 Toal War with Chosokabe...
Love Chosokabe. The samurai archers are just vicious later on! Rank 4 with improved accuracy? Morale-breakers...
Tried out a new texture pack (Thanks to viper23 and Christoi!)

After:
It adds a certain feeling to it : D

Remove the torches, dig holes in the roof and add lightstone. Invisible from below, but it gives light and there won't be any unpleasant surprises :smile.gif:
Wouldn't really work since the roof is only 1 block thick and it would look kinda ugly for a wooden roof either to have holes or some random glowing thingy thats not gold. Example picture above : (
Its starting to look like a proper Japanese castle now : D
Once the walls around the tree farm and pagoda are done, I'll start work on the main castle.
My texture pack! :biggrin.gif:
Anyways, looks completely awesome! Here are some diamonds for all your hard work
Can't wait to see the finished product!

As for the finished product, think this in Minecraft style:
100% legit, playing on hard
Location of castle
Starter house
Temporary Tree Farm
Final Work done
I really should be studying for my english exam now... Anybody can recommend me a good japanese-themed texture pack? I'm too lazy to edit one myself.

Built almost the entire length of the cobblestone part of the pagoda section wall. The view here will most probably the where the main castle will be.
