I am near the co-ords and see no water over lava like this.
I do however see a neat cave with 3 diamond veins really close to each-other and a random bit of cobblestone in a lava flow.
Yeah, the water probably turned all the lava to obsidian, like it did when I went back in a fresh world. My original copy of this world was created by Beta 1.1, and the chunk this glitch lives in was created by 1.2, so things could've changed in the versions since. Also, it could have something to do with how I explored this world...what direction I came from, which chunks were generated in what order, etc.

Yea I even got 2 screenies. Imma post em.
Here they are. Not the newest but hey..
Daaaaaaaamn!! That sure puts my mere 2 blocks of water-on-lava action to shame! I would love to have a glitch room like that!
I had kind of a weird thing happen today that was similar to this: There was this lava flow down a wall and onto a floor of a cave, and I poured water next to the flow on the ground and it didn't create cobble.
That is pretty kool, nice find. I'll see if any of my worlds have this and report back.
Yeah, that might take a while. I've been playing this world for months now, and this is the first time I've ever seen this bug. But hey, if you do find something like that, build a shrine for it! That's what i'm doin. I'm gonna keep these 2 blocks of glitchiness forever and ever and ever. It's like a furnace of mine that got stuck in the "burning" state. That furnace has been burning for like 3 straight months now with nothing at all in it. But I like it, so I don't touch it.

Cool story bro! Im just kidding.
Probably just a glitch/bug..
OR you changed the textures of (something) to lava...
Ill go with my first suggestion.
Heh, someone else commented on my texture pack too, but I don't know if that had any relation to the thread's topic or not. The TP is Faithful 32x32, and I assure you this is a legitimate glitch, not any kind of troll nonsense.
