I'd say this is pretty fair. You used a pickaxe so you didn't really gain anything but time.
I approve.

Or you just release the mouse after every block. Try this with dirt and diamond shovel. Its like a hot knife cutting through butter. Alot faster then normal
Don't you mean not release the mouse, or are you speaking of another "technique".
He's talking about "click mining" but it has been fixed in SMP. Still works on SSP.

He's right
I just watched some youtube videos about "click mining" and realised that I'm actually doing the same but different. I don't release the mouse button. When you aim fast enough on the next block it has the same effect, but obviously more difficult.

The aiming is actually the faster way according to the be all end all mining post from the Thread O Links.
You lack patience to actually mine the blocks (which I have nothing against - I am very impatient as well and an avid user of instantmine), but the thing is, you're making a desperate attempt to stay "legit" as many forum goers would argue. If you're going to use instantmine, why bother with attempting to call it "legit" if you're damaging a pickaxe.
With your logic, I could mine quickly and indefinitely with stone pickaxes - the more I mine, the more pickaxes I produce. One of the key factors that comes into mining is the time it takes relative to the resources you use - a rarer resource like diamond produces a more efficient tool.
Now I have nothing against you using it - I'm just giving my opinion.

Building legit is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see what you've done, but you're the only one who feels the warmth. Is it worth it?
It is somewhat cheating, but how i do it just makes it to where it isn't.
I use single player commands. i have a (true survival) world, that is not to be cheated on.
What i do is, if i want to mine FAST, ill turn on "instantmine" but use a pickaxe.
It will still damage the pickaxe like actual mining, but will just allow you to go through faster.
It is somewhat cheating, and also isn't due to the pickaxe damage.
Opinions?
It will still be "cheating" to the community, if you don't do it legit. =\
Never heard of it.

What the hell.
Indeed.
But then, a lot of the community is stupid anyway, so I laugh at their puny "cheats".

I am sorry good sir, let me continue mining this 300+ obsidian farm without my little mod then.
Indeed you are wiser than i am sir
this is to god dam funny

Basically, if you change the time on your computer by a couple hours (I think, never tried it) while playing Minecraft, it goes really fast. :3

This.
Your cheating. It's not somewhat, or partially, or a little, or only just.
And the second sentence doesn't make sense. Makes it to where it is not?
Your minimizing time via something which isn't part of the core game.
Time is a key aspect of mining. Time + Resources Consumed = Reward
This is just the same as If I build something awesome but hacked in all the resources; it is not legit.
When used in context with the OP's topic. It's cheating.
