His coding is awful - leads to many bugs/glitches
Hates any modifications to the game
Does not listen to community
Constant whining about the Modding API
Reluctance to fix any bugs introduced by his updates
Refusal to hire more programmers to a VERY small development team
Spends more time going to gaming conventions/twittering than working on the game itself
Constantly brags about his making of Minecraft
Minecraft is a fun game, but Notch is self-involved and stubborn, refusing to make necessary changes to the game/programming team because he wants things done his way
If you know about coding, there's always going to be bugs. This is why were in beta, we're cleaning up the major bugs before release.
He doesn't hate mods o.o. He actually approved of it long ago.
Most of his updates are community based, the ones he doesn't listen to are the ones that make no sense whatsoever.
Skipping down. Hey, he's a normal guy. Everyone gets free time to themselves. How would you act if someone was constantly bugging you for something?
I see no bragging.
You have no right dissing on him for such. He disapproves
Today I sitting around, staring at the overcast sky, when suddenly I heard a distant crack of thunder. Moments later, a rushing noise of a thousand water droplets started emanating from my yard. I stood outside on my patio, and realized that Minecraft thunder storms are perfect.
The sky is a perfect shade of gray, the lighting is just right, the sound is completely accurate, the thunder is exhilerating, and the lightning is awesome.
I rest my case- Notch is genius.
Discuss.
Cool Story Bro.

Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter!!!! Look at what you did!!!!!
Eh, he did a good job upgrading the game from the infiminer clone, but still. The core game is still a rip off, and he did upgrade it a lot since, but saying he's genius and the core of the game is taken from another person's work is a bit extreme.
Erm, infiminer and Minecraft may still a similarity in the core game but Minecraft is no where near the same. There is a lot more you can do and servers where you don't just randomly find materials. Infiminer is like minecraft classic.
Minecraft is basically a brilliant attempt to build on Infiniminer's concepts. All of that game's flaws have been fixed; lava works wonderfully in Minecraft where it didn't in Infiniminer, and so on.

This man really is a genius. Never have i seen such a clear and well written forum post.

So, by that logic Stephen Hawkings isn't a good scientist because his work is based off of Albert Einstein, cherry coke can't be liked more than original coca-cola, and almost every game is no better than pong.
Notch is a pure genius, now if only the people that make computers were geniuses because then we would also have the smell of rain in the game. Sadly enough, though, the idiots down at silicon valley don't know how to implement smell into their computers, i bet if Notch was a hardware guy we would have the smell of rain in minecraft :sad.gif:

We all stand on the shoulders of giants, as they say. Including the guys who developed Infiniminer. That doesn't discount their (Or Notch's) accomplishments. The core of Minecraft is the same as the Core of Infiniminer only insomuch as the core of Half-Life is the core of Quake II. They are not the same game, and Minecraft is a huge step-forward in design, and may have developed the gametype into a formal genre.

I know, many of these games are taking from older games, but he took from infiminer, that came out about a month or 2 before he started work on minecraft.

Half-Life is literally built from the Quake and Quake II engines, and was released about one year after Quake II. You'd be a moron not to use a good idea when you can.
Considerating a couple of facts, its har dto call him a genius :/ He really was just quite lucky on getting Minecraft to be popular (I would say VERY lucky, in fact. And even then I belive the fanboys hype the game somewhat. It is good, but its not the best game ever, either).
He is good... But Not really even near to some kind of genius. this couple with his classical laziness.. Yeah.
1. Yes.
2 No one word posts, pl0x.
And that, my dear children, is why I will ALWAYS use a machete to cut through red tape. I'm glad we had this talk.
If you say "pl0x" or "plz" instead of please, instead of saying "yes" i will say
Because it is shorter since its shorter than "yes"

when you say "discuss" it makes a lot of people not want to.
