Everything was perfect. I had spent most of the day working in the farm, because Iz was helping Jone with gathering some sand for the day. Turns out its much more boring than I thought it would be. Come to think of it, I’m not sure why I thought it would be exiting. Anyways, it was all going to be worth it because of the party tonight. We were celebrating our first month of surviving in… wherever we are. Anyways, I just want to get one thing clear, it isn’t not January 31. It’s just that when we first came here, we said it was January 1, so we could keep track of time. Whatever. As far as I’m concerned, its January 31.
It seems like we’ve made a lot of progress in just one month. A huge farm, a huge house, a huge lighthouse, and a mess of other random things. Things are actually starting to get pretty boring. Izzy would tend to the farm, jack would hunt animals, Jone would gather wood, and the rest of us mostly just sat around. I work on putting another room in the house once in a while, but the whole “surviving” thing was getting pretty repetitive.
Anyways, the party was on. It was going to be awesome. Cindy was going to make cake. As I said, everything was perfect. And then everything went horribly wrong.
It all happened so quickly. We were all happy waiting for Cindy to bring in the cake. Right as she walked in, it all went downhill. We heard a hiss, and everyone was immediately silent. The explosion knocked down almost the entire building! I knew it couldn’t have been a creeper, the explosion was way too big. I had no idea what was going on. None of us did. I got out of the hole the explosion made, and I saw an unfamiliar face. “Who are you? What did you do?” I yelled. He responded with an arrow. It looked like there were about twelve more people helping out this invader, and they were all shooting arrows at us! I dodged and yelled to everyone, “run!”
I had no idea who these guys were, in fact all of us thought we were the only people in this world, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to get out of there. Everyone got up and ran. Jone and Jack turned around and began to shoot back at the intruders. I just kept running until I couldn’t hear the intruders following me anymore. After a while(who knows how long), I stopped and turned to see if they were still following us. I was horrified to find that no one was still behind me. I thought my friends had been following me all this time! I had no idea where I was! The worst part? The sun was setting. Crap! I dug into the ground and closed the roof. And there I was. Lost. In a tiny hole in the middle of some desert. No one but me. None of my friends around. Probably never going to see them again. No home. Well, sitting around wasn’t doing me anything, so I looked at what I had to work with. All I had been carrying with me was some leather armor, a stone sword, a bow, about 17 arrows, that green disk I found that day Aaron was killed by the spider box, and a book. And that’s where I am now. I’m writing in this book, in a tiny hole. I’ll try to write more tomorrow, but for now, I need to sleep.
Today was a good day. I got out of my hole once I thought it was safe. A couple of creepers were still alive, but they didn’t trouble me much. I wanted to get back to the old house and maybe find some of the others. I remembered passing by a mountain that I could see off in the distance, so I headed that way. As I went the ground was getting more and more familiar. I was getting so tired that I thought about just settling down for the rest of the day, but then I saw the lighthouse I made! I crept closer, slowly, slowly, just in case the invaders were still there. They were. I saw them over by Cindy’s room going through her chest. I ducked down and crawled over to a cave to make sure they didn’t see me. Aaron had explored this cave, so it was well lit. I just stood there and watched them go through Cindy’s stuff for a while when I realized I didn’t have any torches. There must be some coal left in this cave, I thought. I went deeper into the looking for coal. Then I found something I wasn’t expecting.
I saw a person. I was scared out of my mind and immediately ran around a corner to hide. Great, the intruders are in our caves to! I’m dead! I thought to myself. I leaned around the corner and tried to see what he was doing. The intruder seemed to be mining out a room. The strange part was that this intruder was wearing leather armor, not steel like the rest of them. Also, this intruder was wearing their hair in a ponytail… Cindy! It was Cindy! I was so glad to see her! “Cindy?” I whispered. She nearly jumped out of her armor, but she was glad to see me to.
We spent a while talking about what happened and what we should do. She had stuck around here this whole time staying in this cave. She says she saw four of the intruders taking Iz and Jone away. “The ones that stayed back said that they would be coming back to the town in a few days later” said Cindy. “Town?” I asked “I was wondering the same thing” she said. “so the intruders took Iz and Jone? What about Jack?” “no idea. By the way, last night I snuck into the old house while those guys were sleeping” “Really? Why?” “Well, I wanted to get some stuff out of the old storage room. I got a bunch of wood, stone, all our wheat, steel, gold, and diamonds.” “Awesome!” I said, a little too loudly. She put her finger to her lips, “Shhh!” she said. I chuckled and quietly said “sorry. You know what’s weird? I was sure we were the only people in this place. And those guys say they have a town back were they come from. Maybe there’s hundreds of people there!” “Maybe” she said. By this point the sun had already set. I was tired from the long trip here, so I went to bed. It’s now about 12:00 at night I think, so I should go back to sleep. I’ll write more tomorrow (probably).
Today, the intruders packed up the rest of our stuff and left. Me and Cindy decided to follow. They had taken or destroyed basically everything, so there was no use staying here. We decided if there was any chance of getting Iz and Jone back, we would have to follow these guys back to their town. I’ve been scared almost every second of following these guys. At any moment they could turn around and see us. We were always ready to duck down and hide from them.
We headed over to the forest for a second before we left to get some more leather and meat in the forest. In the forest, we ran into a pack of wolves. They didn’t seem to mind us. We tried to just ignore them, we didn’t want to make them mad. Right as we were sneaking up on a pig to kill it, it was shot with an arrow, and it died. Cindy and I ducked to the ground. Someone else was here in the forest. A man in leather armor walked up to the pig. “I think that’s jack!” Cindy whispered. I stood up and said, “Jack?” he turned around and immediately shot an arrow at me. He missed, but the arrow brushed my shoulder.
“wo, jack stop! Its me, Ryan!” I yelled. His face softened, and he said “oh, sorry! Are you heart?” “No I’m fine. The arrow barley scraped me” “good. Wait, where did you guys come from? Where’s Iz and Jone?” Cindy spoke up and said “Ryan and I have been staying in a cave. Iz and Jone… those guys who came took them back to their town” “aww crap! Do you know where there town is? We have to go get them!” said. “no were not sure where there town is, but some of the guys are still here and there heading back to their town in a few minutes. We were going to follow them and try to get Iz and Jone back.” “good idea. Here, I’ll come with you. Just give me a minute to pack up some stuff.” Jack turned and climbed up a near by tree. If you looked closely you could see the chest and workbench inside, but he had hidden his house very well. “ok I’ve got some meat, a lot of wood, leather, wool, feathers, saplings, some bones, string, some gunpowder, and some reed. Oh, and I have a few eggs.” He called down. “bring the leather, and meat, and some wool, bring all of your wood, and bones. And go ahead and take those saplings.” Cindy responded. Jack got the stuff and climbed down. We went over to the edge of the forest and waited for the intruders to leave. After about five minutes they started walking. We followed about a quarter mile behind them.
They walked for about seven hours and then settled down. They dug a ditch around a small patch of land and filled it with lava. We simply dug down into the ground and mined out a base. That’s where we are now. Every now and then I’ll pop my head out and watch them. All of them are wearing steel armor, but one of them has a diamond helmet. I figure he must be the leader. I should probably go to bed now.
I didn’t write yesterday, mostly because nothing interesting happened. We just followed them then settled down for the night. Also, me and Jack explored a cave the whole night, so I didn’t really have time to write. I don’t know why I’m writing tonight either, nothing interesting happened. I ‘ll just write about something random until its time to sleep. That’s mostly what this journal is for anyhow, writing to kill some time. I guess I’ll tell you about our first few nights here.
We all randomly came here. None of us remember anything of our previous lives, if we had previous lives. I feel like I lived before I came here, but I just can’t remember it. We all woke up on a beach. Aaron was the first to wake up, and he went around and woke the rest of us up. This world seemed strange to us. Everything was blocky and this didn’t feel right. We didn’t really remember anything that wasn’t blocky, it just seemed strange. The only animals around were some cows, pigs, sheep and chickens. Later we found some sort of octopuses in the water. We didn’t really do much that first day. After a while, it started to get dark, and we went to look for a place to sleep. As we were walking it kept getting darker. Eventually we just ended up on the same beach we started. Right as we stopped, we heard a bow string snap, and one of the girls screamed.
She yelled “look!” we all looked where she was pointing. We were horrified. It was some sort of blocky skeleton holding a bow. We all turned and ran, right into a gigantic spider. It almost bit me, but I hit it and it scurried back a little. There seemed to be monsters everywhere. Skeletons, huge spiders, zombies, and strange green things. We were all running for our lives, when someone yelled “get in the trees!” we all climbed to get away from the monsters, and It seemed to work. The treetops seemed strangely solid. I was concerned the monsters would climb after us, but after a while those fears faded. The zombies were to stupid to get up, the skeletons bows got in the way of their climbing, and the green things didn’t have arms. The spiders seemed to be able to climb, but they got hung up in the leaves. This is where all of us settled down. We all picked names for ourselves. One girl picked Cindy, another Iz, and the boys named themselves Jone, Jack, Aaron, and I named myself Ryan. Then we decided to name the monsters. Jack said “well we should call the zombies zombies, the skeletons skeletons, those huge spiders spiders, but those green things…” “those things creep the heck out of me” Cindy said. That’s how we came up with the name. We call the “creepers”.
We were all relieved when the sun rose. It was nice to be out of the dark. The skeletons and zombies were burned by the sunlight. The spiders sort of forgot about us, and didn’t even try to bite us anymore. But the “creepers” still stayed there. We tried leaning out of our trees and punching them to death, and it worked, mostly. We all managed to kill the “creepers” except for Aaron. His began to swell when he got too close to it, and then exploded. Aaron was ok, just a little spooked. We knew we had to get a good house made before night came. First we needed wood to make the walls, and roof, so we tried to chop down some trees. They seemed to break very easily. The strangest part of all this was that the tops of the trees stayed in place! It took me a while to get used to this. After a while of breaking and building, we had a small house made.
The sun was beginning to set, so we went inside. While we were inside, I made a small table out if some left over wood. I wanted to make a bigger house, so I went to the corner and began to dig out some dirt. It was slow to get the dirt out of the way, so I tried making a shovel. I went over to the table and began to get working. It was easier than I thought. I dug out some dirt then hit rock. I couldn’t get it out with my shovel, so I wanted something better. I went over and tried to make a pick axe. After a while of this kind of thing I had made plenty of random tools made. I taught everyone else how to do this kind of thing, and they were soon digging and mining like I was. After about three days, we had a large house.
Wow, I’ve been writing for almost an hour now. I think I’ll write more tomorrow. Time to go to bed now.
Again, nothing interesting happened. I like writing about the first days, so I think I’ll do that again.
On the third day, we tried planting a garden. We thought it would look nice, but there was nothing to plant. We tried to make a hoe and dig up some grass, and maybe just get grass to grow tall would look good. When we tried to dig it up with the hoe, the grass dropped these small seeds. We used the hoe to toil the ground, and planted the seeds in the soil. We planned to check up on them every once in a while. Iz seemed to really be interested in the planting, so we all voted to put her in charge of plants. “I’ll be the one who goes and gathers materials” said Jone. “Can I be a hunter?” asked jack. We all thought that would be good, so Jack was the hunter. “I’ll do the building and making more rooms” I said.” What about you, Cindy?” asked Iz. “I don’t know… I guess I could organize everything” so we let her be in charge of all the items and materials. “What should I do?” said Aaron. He was the last one, but we couldn’t think of anything he could do. We figured we’d all decide later.
About an hour later, I was mining out a new room, when I broke into a cave. This was the first cave we found. I was scared of what might be in it, so I closed it off and went to tell the others. “guys,” I said, “ I was mining a new room and I found a cave!” I brought everyone over to the cave I found. Most of us were scared, but not Aaron. He was exited. He said “we should go explore it!” none of us wanted to but him, so we put him in charge of exploring it. That was his job now, cave explorer. He got ready with some torches and a pick and went in. He asked us one last time, “are you guys sure you don’t want to come with me?” “oh what the heck. I’ll come” I said. He gave me a pick and some torches and we went in. We walked for a while finding lots of coal, but then we came to a split in the cave. I went one way and Aaron went the other.
I found some strange thing on the wall, and I called Aaron over here to take a look at it. It looked like regular rock, but with brown specks in it. Aaron hit it with his pick and stowed it away for later. Aaron went back to his branch, and we went on with mining. I kept finding more brown rock stuff, and kept gathering it. Then out of the blue Aaron yelled “Ryan come here! Hurry!” I ran to him, as fast as I could. His voice sounded scared. It took me about a minute to get over there, and when I did I wish I hadn’t. There was a room full of spiders, and Aaron was standing in the corner fighting them off. There was a fire filled box in the middle, and the ground was covered in broken moss with moss all over it. I ran over and killed the spiders and helped Aaron get up. I looked around and saw two chests. I looked in one and Aaron looked in the other. In his there was some metal, a bucket and some bread. In mine there was a second bucket, more metal, and a strange black disk with a green circle in the middle. I showed it to Aaron and he didn’t know what it was either. We decided to keep it and show it to the others. Right then, out of nowhere, for no reason at all, a spider appeared in front of Aaron. This time he wasn’t as lucky as before, and the spider bit him. He tried to punch it away, but a second spider appeared right next to the other. I stood there, watching in horror, as the two spiders killed Aaron. Everything he had been carrying was there on the ground where he used to be. I turned around and ran the fastest I ever have in my life. The spiders lost me after a while. I ran out of the cave and back into the house. I screamed “ help! Help me!” Jack and Iz ran over to where I was. “what happened?” asked jack, “ we found this box in the cave in a square room with spiders in it, and we killed the spiders but then more appeared out of nowhere! They killed Aaron!” they were both silent.
They followed me back to the cave, and I showed them the room I was talking about. Jack killed the spiders with ease, and we lit up the room. This time, for some reason, no spiders appeared. We collected the stuff Aaron had dropped. I was devastated. He had been alive and then for no reason he was killed. It was just unfair! I had only known him for a day, but I knew I would miss him.
Well that’s my story. I cant write about this anymore. Just thinking about it is making me sad. I’ll write as soon as we find the city, or If anything interesting happens.
This trip is taking much longer than I thought. I was sure we’d be there in like 3 days but its been almost a week now. Today we walked by something we weren’t expecting, more people. We were crossing a snowy grassland that we were crossing, and there was a small building. I was thinking this was one of the buildings of their town. But it turns out this was the first time the people we were following had seen this place. They went inside with their swords out; I assumed they were going to raid it like they did to our houses. But they spent a few minutes in there, came out with no explosions or screams of terror. I was confused. After the intruders were safely away, I went closer to the building. I saw a sign on it but I couldn’t make it out until I was close. The sign said: “trading post” I went inside, and saw a bunch of chests lined up with signs above them saying what they held.
I yelled, “Hello?” a man walked out of a room in the back of the building. “Hello there!” the man said, “I’m Ron” “um, hey… Ron,” I said nervously, “I’m Ryan” “Hello Ryan. What would you like?” “uh… one second, I’ll be right back” I walked out the door and got Jack and Cindy. We all walked back in and Ron said “welcome back! So what would you like to buy?” I was trying to think of something to say, but Cindy popped up and said, “What do you have to sell?” “well, I’ve got seeds, Lots of stone, redstone dust, diamonds, lots of obsidian, cooked and uncooked meat, stone from the nether, buckets, lots of string, and plenty of arrows” said Ron. “Um, what’s redstone dust?” Jack asked. Ron laughed and said “oh, you know? The dust from the red ore in the ground” “um…. Ok” said Jack. “but what did you say, stone from what?” I asked “The nether. Netherstone” “oh, ok” I said, but I still had no idea what he was talking about.
“So what will you take?” Ron asked, for the 20th time. We leaned over to talk. We decided to buy some arrows, because we only had about 40. “We’ll take some arrows” I said, “Great!” Ron said, “And what would you like to trade in?” “Um what would you want?” Jack asked “wWll, you just make me an offer and I’ll think about it” “Ok… well I guess we could trade in some stone” Jack said. We had a lot of stone from the houses we had made every night. They had all been underground so they were easy to hide. “Ok,” Ron said, “I’ll give you an arrow per block. How’s that sound?” we all thought that was a great offer so we took it. We got about 300 arrows. Right as we were leaving, I had an idea. “Wait, those guys that came in before us, did they say anything about where they were going?” Ron thought for a moment and said “I believe they said they were going to Eastwood” “Where is that?” I asked “I think its about 9 miles north-east of here. It's probably about a two day walk away, considering all the stuff they were carrying” “Thank you so much!” said Cindy. We walked outside and started following the intruders.
And here we are. We followed them for another hour before night came. We should get to their town within the next day or two. I’m sort of happy, but really nervous. I haven’t really thought about what we’re planning on doing when we get there. We can’t attack them and try to get Iz and Jone back, There’s more of them then are of us. I don’t think we’ll be able to negotiate with them, so I guess we’ll make it up as we go.
Ok, I think we’ve made some progress. Jack was out gathering wood and hunting, when he screamed, “Ryan! Cindy! Get out here!” he sounded excited. I popped my head out of the ground to see jack standing about 5 feet away. Next to him was a man who I didn’t know.
I was terrified, but Jack said “don’t worry, he’s not with the people in the city” I was relived, but still suspicious. The man said, “Hello, Ryan” I climbed out of the hole and Cindy followed “Um, hello…” “call me Ben,” he said, “ok, hello, Ben.” Cindy said, “so, um… jack? What’s going on?” “I was about to kill a pig when I spotted something in a tree, a torch. I climbed in and found Ben.” “ok then,” cindy responded, “so Ben where are you from?” Ben thought for a moment and said “I think it would be better if I showed you. Follow me” we followed him for a minute and he led us into a cave. It was dark inside, until you turned a corner. There was a single torch on the wall on a patch of dirt. Ben broke the two blocks below the torch and opened up a tunnel. We followed it for a while and came into a large room. “follow me, I’ll bring you to our town supervisor” Ben said. There were many rooms attached to this one and there were people walking through in all directions. Ben led us through a few room and into one with wooden walls. There was another man in here. “Hello Ben! Who are your friends? I don’t think I’ve seen them aroundbefore” “These are some people I found in the woods. There not from Eastwood” “Well where are they from?” Ben turned to Jack because he didn’t actually know. “Where are you from?” he asked. Cindy said “We had a small house very far away from here. Some guys from Eastwood broke into our house, stole everything, broke down the house, and kidnapped some of our friends. We tried to follow them to get our friends back, but we don’t see any way we could break in without being killed.” “Well…” said the man “you’re welcome to stay here until you figure out what to do! My name is Tas by the way. I’m this city’s housing supervisor” “Thank you Tas, but I think we need to figure out how to get our friends back quickly. Hopefully we’ll be out of this place within the week.” Cindy said. “Well for the time being, we can help you out. Provide clothing, shelter, food, and anything else you might need.” Tas said. “Thank you” said Cindy. Tas and Ben showed us around a little and then came to an empty room. “I’m sorry, but this is the only free room. I’ll get the miners to make you each your own room” Tas said. “Oh no, this is fine” I said, “We are going to be talking and planning a lot anyways. We’re all fine with sharing a room” “If that’s ok with you, then ok” Tas said, “if you need anything come to my room and just let me know” “thank you” said Jack.
We settled in and got all of our stuff in place. Its good that we found this place and all, but this doesn’t really help us much with getting Iz and Jone back. I’ll write more tomorrow.

A chest full of diamonds for you
This trip is taking much longer than I thought.
