Im a new user and my building skills are a little rusty and i thought it would be a good idea to start an advanced security thread to get advice from more experienced users and perhaps spread the knowledge a bit.
post things like: "solve this puzzle and a door opens", "Behind one door is a way out but the others are death" etc.
You can make one-way jumps with furnaces and slowsand and lava. Just make a hallway like this (full of furnaces for ceiling, floor, wall, etc) The slowsand will make it so that you can't run and jump over the pit; while the furnaces won't let you place blocks, they'll just open up into the furnace GUI.
(Aerial View, = slowsand)
You can warp through lava by having a minecart on the other side of a lava fall; Just right click on the minecart that's on the other side and you'll be inside of it, on the other side of the lava and not be hurt. Using this, you can have some warp-through thingers safe and some that will kill you. Might also want to use furnaces so that they don't block the flow of lava.
SAFE EXAMPLE (Side View, = minecart)

DANGEROUS EXAMPLE (won't kill them instantly, but they won't have anywhere to go or any blocks to place.(Side View, = minecart)

A circuit of redstone current would be very ideal for this trap, I'm sure that you could rig something up to flip a switch if one of the furnaces breaks, which sets a dispenser - arrow trap for when they leave.

If Mexicans owned Minecraft, it would be possible to jump over fences (without lag.)

He uses "Don't spam off-topic nonsense in a troll thread"!
Once pistons get added, make it so a code from levers that open a doorway.
This has been done with redstone. And I think that OP was asking for experimental traps - not hypothetical ones. Plus pistons will most likely use some sort of fuel as well as current, which will probably make these traps expensive.

Fake floor

= sand/gravel [] = piston = lava
Fake ceiling, labyrinth made out of pistons, that changes itself as you advance or coded secret doorway as you mentioned
