So I started a new "play" world (I call worlds that I play on for long amounts of time, such as a few months, play worlds) today, and after chopping some trees down, I planted the saplings, waited out the night (Beds are for wimps. :tongue.gif:), and in the morning, two out of the 5 trees were grown. Then, I planted another sapling nearby, and it grew before the day was even over.
I remember trees taking forever to grow (3 - 4 Minecraft days), but it seems that they grow very quickly now. Is it just me, or is anyone else noticing this?
I'm not worried about the time it takes to grow them, so I'd rather not waste bonemeal on them, but I just figured I'd point this out and see if anyone else has noticed this, or if it's just me.
The average time for a tree to grow seems to be about 5 minutes. As far as I know, this has always been the same.
But you should have an abundance of bone meal quickly after starting a new world, so just use it.
Birch grows in a minute or something, i remember planting a ***** sampling, collecting some sand and coming back and 3 of them grew. i only got 64 sand..

Cool story bro. Please make a thread somebody cares about next time.
Hmmm...Well if that's the case, bonemeal is pretty useless. The only other use is for dyes and using on wheat, but wheat is simply a secondary food source (Although I use bread for food more than pork).
