Yup, another difficulty discussion. Only this time it's not somebody ragging on Peaceful, for once.
This time it's a simple question: What difficulty do you play Minecraft on, and why?
Personally I play on Normal mostly, since I enjoy a decent challenge that doesn't feel too mean at times. Losing more than 1/3 your health to a single hit from a zombie isn't fun. Sometimes I switch to Peaceful too, usually when building huge, intricate things or testing new features of the latest release of Minecraft, and afterward it always goes right back up to Normal.
Easy, because although I want mobs for their drops, my mob trap and it adds more fun (imo) to the game, but I would be dieing all over the place if I took more damage than I do.
Also, the Nether is even creepier on Peaceful. It's empty and the only sounds are lava and your footsteps. And that red fog o.o
I play on Peaceful for the first two nights or so, then permanently switch to Normal. I like to patiently scout out the area and find the perfect place for a house rather than to bury myself up in an improvised man-hole.
i play on peacful because i like the freedom of having a whole wall missing to the entrance of your mine, the ability to walk around at night without worry, and creepers...weeellll, you can guess.
I actually play a hybrid of peaceful/normal. I only recently stopped being a complete wuss and decided to man-up and play on Normal. My current (and only) world that I have (started upon the update of 1.5) is that sort of hybrid... Currently it's on peaceful 'cause m'just in the mood for building. But a while ago I spent hours bein' all MANLY and attacking them Creepers.
I'll blow it upppp~ Every mountain~ Every valley~
I think it's kinda neat how people tend to play differently than each other. They all have their own styles. My family member that I got hooked on Minecraft plays it differently than I.

I like normal, because the damage output by monster I think are just enough.
Hard is okay too, but I find myself getting more annoyed at times due to monster doing a high amount of damage.
I play on normal. I did play peaceful for a while, then got angry that I couldn't get gun powder or string without finding a dungeon, so normal is fine with me. Yeah the monsters get annoying, but it's a fun challenge.
I think you forgot the bias in the poll. What's that? There shouldn't be any? Then...
So anyway, I play on peaceful because of the the new monster underground spawning in the halloween update. When it was reversed, I could no longer be bothered with monsters.
Huh, that's actually pretty interesting. Normal's currently the most popular, followed by Peaceful. I guess most of you guys just like playing the game as 'vanilla' as possible?
Normal at first, or hard (if the land is not at my disadvantage), and when I have a small fort, a farm, and a tower, I switch to peaceful, because at that stage, all the monsters will do is occasionally bust the floor with craters in an annoying fashion, and that is not fun.

I actually like that concept, monsters disappearing after a while because you've 'tamed' the land.
And I can agree with you there, once you've got a nice house and good defenses, the most you can worry about it an unsightly pothole in your lawn.
Most of the time I'm on Peaceful due to my average fps of 7. Mobs just get too annoying to fight when I'm faced with a size-able group due to the lag that I usually get.
When my computer isn't being slow or when there aren't many mobs around then I switch it to Normal.
Once I get this computer fixed or just find a new one then I'll be switching it up to hard, I enjoy a challenge.
Normal, because I like a challenge, tho not hard because the only difference seems to be that they deal more damage and that seems like it'd just make it so any mistakes lead to death.

Plain 'ol vanilla, er, that is Normal difficulty for me. I don't even change when building large-scale projects.

Problem?

That would be more funny if it weren't so sad...

Without any milk.
