I certainly agree upon that point. However, using the magic power that red stone possesses as well as a bow is what causes that mechanical occurrence, is that not a bit on the fantasy side?

Your argument is debunked.(See fig.1)
well i have a counter argument, Notch called minecraft a infiniminer clone when he began developing it and that game had explosives in it. Also, since mining is an aspect of minecraft it makes sense to add things related with mining.
Dude, notch has confirmed at LEAST 50,000 times HE IS NOT ADDING GUNS.
MINECRAFT IS FANTASY. DO YOU SEE A KNIGHT SAVING FAIR MAIDENS FROM DRAGONS WITH A SHOTGUN? (often?)
NO.
/end rant
No, he's not adding guns.
Do you see electric currents and TNT in lord of the rings? no? then quit talking.
Is minecraft LOTR? No? Then quit posting.
Minecraft is a game set in a period were you build simple devices using mostly unrefined materials. I would like to see someone bend an iron ingot into a perfect tube, 3 times, then magically combine them together to form the barrel. Even with a hammer, its not something you can just go "herp derp dun"
So bows aren't complicated? There is no fine line from things that are simple and things that are complicated. In my mind, bows aren't that much simpler than guns. Like, you know those fancy hunting bows that are modern? Why can't we have simple bows (spider string and wood) and simple guns?
i am certain that someone will correct me for being wrong on some parts, but a gun is a lot more complicated then a bow
pulling the trigger makes the hammer strike the firing pin, pushing the firing pin into the round, making a spark, igniting the gunpowder then finally propelling the bullet forward.
a bow uses principles of elasticity, and yes compound bows get mechanical advantage by use of pulleys
but where are the pulleys in our bows?
saying a gun is not very much more complicated then a bow is not a valid argument for adding guns
crossbows i could see, but yes someone brought up pistons he's right about that NOT FANTASY
I don't really see why he wouldn't? Minecraft is already a very organized civilization in many servers I find. Now, keep in mind when I say, "Gun." I am talking about an instrument that shoots something, that has some sort of firing shaft and longer reload time drawbacks. I am not talking about AK-47s or rocket launchers. It makes sense, right? I think it would be fit into the game very easily and be balanced.
Yeah it does make sense, in fact it makes so much sense that he already did it!
Its called the bow and arrow. thread/
EDIT: I see people are already talking about this.

The last bit is a good argument, but it's like saying "oh,fighting with guns seemed to fit the theme of (insert civil war FPS here),so we added assault rifles."
From the gameplay i've seen from Infiniminer, it looks more like a sci-fi game. Another argument debunked.

Makes a powerful and durable sword with no smelting required, using nothing but your hands.. Debunked.
Because everything anyone ever says EVER will always be true and consistent for the rest of their time on this earth.
OH WAIT, people can change their minds when convinced by their peers? No! Blasphemy!
i think bows should shoot slower and have smaller range (maybe just a bit less damage, i dunno). And flint lock pistols would be more powerful, and long range. I dont think that would ruin the "theme" of minecraft.

I don't see why your trying to defend the stupidest idea ever, but whatever.
Notch will never, ever add guns, because more then 50% of the community DOES.NOT.WANT.THEM. If it was 50-50, then maybe he would, label it as a "you don't have to use it" item, but when absolutely nobody wants it, its never going to happen.

No.
We can assume crafting involves some sort of refining. When Steve makes pants, he doesn't mash 7 ingots together and then kick them until they fit on his legs. He hammers it into the proper shape. It doesn't have too many joints, so it can be considered doable (think crafting is magic? see those tools on the workbench texture? we can assume Steve's workbench-less ability is hampered because he only carries smaller tools on his person). But guns? Moving parts galore. There's nothing in Minecraft that involves mechanical, perfect moving parts. Levers can use magical redstone so one side, when touching a certain area, creates current. Easy. Buttons? You push them. Simple. Little fiddly bits inside a gun that must contain and divert the power of an explosion? No. It's hard, it's painful, and even to the best of Steve's ability, the thing would misfire almost all the time. He's better off with the ever-reliable bow and arrows.
FroDevil, get the **** off the high horse. You can't debunk ****.
A sword is flat. You get a hammer, conveniently located on the side of the workbench, and hammer the sword flat. That's no where near as difficult as forming metal tubes.
There are explosives in LOTR.

It seems the only failed arguments are yours. You are a piece of ****. Die.

Read my post, it seems we agree. I have an education, so let's team up and punch FroDevil in the balls. WITH SCIENCE.
Also, you're being absurdly arrogant. 'He will add guns'... seriously? Forcing your opinion on people doesn't work. As a race we're all too arrogant about our own opinions. Key word here is opinion. A better way to say it might have been 'I think Notch will add guns'. This thread is still pointless though because notch already stated 'no guns'.
Just realized:
Seriously, anyone knows by now that guns + minecraft only has future prospects as mods.
Which there is a whole ****ing forum for here.

I develop games then lose the code and fail to release them.

minecraft in the beginning was just a hobby for notch so his idea of what minecraft is hasn't been consolidated yet
.....or Notch just likes explosions :tongue.gif:
