But guns? Moving parts galore.
You have a very ignorant perception of 12th century-era muskets. All they need is something spring loaded to hit the primer hard enough to set it off. Hell, you can put a bullet in a vice grip and hammer a nail into the primer and it will set off.

Little fiddly bits inside a gun that must contain and divert the power of an explosion? No. It's hard, it's painful, and even to the best of Steve's ability, the thing would misfire almost all the time.
Oh please. Steve can build cannons out of blocks of rock and water. If he can carry millions of tons of stone without being slowed down,I'm pretty sure he can fashion some iron into a gun barrel.
FroDevil, get the **** off the high horse. You can't debunk ****.
A sword is flat. You get a hammer, conveniently located on the side of the workbench, and hammer the sword flat. That's no where near as difficult as forming metal tubes.
There are explosives in LOTR.
Ok,yeah. Lets just bend iron with a hammer. No heat involved or ANYTHING. Durr hurr.
Oh,and you start flaming. Lol. nice argument there.

Debunkings all around,children!
(debunk is my new favorite word)
Dispensers - 1 moving part. A little wedge pushing stuff out. Guns - Many moving parts that are more complicated and need to be more precise.
The cannons aren't canon. They're exploiting the game's physics (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Carrying millions of stone slabs is part of the gameplay mechanics. It would be bothersome to imply weight limits.
Stop saying debunking if you aren't debunking anything.

Wow you are ****ing retarded.
Bending iron with a hammer is possible. The iron would come out very brittle, and that explains why the iron swords break so quickly in the game. And how do you think we can build iron tubes when there's no heat? Even worse. **** yourself.
The fact you used Steve carrying tons of stone as an arguments goes completely against what you're saying.
Don't pretend you aren't flaming. Your passive aggression with your **** "debunkings" is enough to start a catfight between two brides with the same dress.
I'm going to bed, so **** you and **** your ****. You're wrong and I can come up with an answer to all your ****,
Bye. Not gonna reply.
Mod edit: this is also flaming, and would have also resulted in a warning. Please adjust your posting habits.
If he did it should be like a blunderbusss gun, very big, needs gunpowder and ammo, very powerful but inaccurate at long distances. When i hear guns i think of a uzi, or an AK47 which doesn't fit into the "feel" of the world. However, maybe the really really old guns would work, i mean we have TNT so guns don't sound that odd.

- Dispensers? Sure. I'm pretty sure, however, that they just use the bow mechanism to push out an item. Redstone is the only thing left up to chance - don't question it. Perhaps it resonates with the bowstring?
- You're right. I know nothing about guns except that they need gunpowder and they shoot. Actually, I'm pretty sure explosion = velocity, and all you need is a lighter and a barrel... sounds simple... but still, integrating it and metal fabrication? That's a *****.
- TNT cannons are more of a multiblock mechanism than a mechanism made by crafting, which is the topic here. Let's not bring up other random things.
NOTCH HAS SAID NO TO GUNS. STOP BEATING A DEAD HORSE.
It's a fun debate regardless. Large-texted replies telling everyone to stop are kinda lame, everyone needs to blow off steam now and then. I'm enjoying this right now, so let's see where this thread takes us.

Dispensers are a stone box with a bow in the middle. Something has to pull that string-and be powerful enough to get good torque.
And like i said 50 million ****ing times, guns are NOT as complicated as you think they are. I know you aren't going to bed-you are just going to lurk this topic with disgust because you are a sad little man.
The reason i said Steve could carry so much stone is that he is strong,so he can make whatever god damn shapes he wants with metal. Including gun barrels. The fact he can make a sword just by hitting it with a small hammer proves this. And what about redstone repeaters? They probably include many intricate moving parts. At least more complicated than a flint and lock mechanism. He's obviously intelligent enough to make flint and tinder, dynamite, electronics, auto turrets made with trap buttons, etc etc. People who go 'Oh,explosives and complicated electric currents are ok. But GUNS?!?!? OMFG SO CRAZY"
If redstone is magic, why not make a gun that shoots spiders and uses oxygen as ammo? How does he do this, you ask? ****in' magic.
In all honesty, I haven't read the whole thread but based on your first few posts in this thread, you seem to be acting incredibly arrogant and ignorant with your theory of Notch including guns in the game (unfortunately, ignorance is contagious *note flaming in thread*). You can't necessarily make a statement like that and assume people will agree with you. Even with proof (which you are lacking), this topic has been brought up many times, and the general consensus is that they will not be added. The bow and arrow are in fact relatively reasonable in the Minecraft world - they require a certain number of resources to make, and are not an instant kill. They are a different option for those who prefer long distance combat over melee combat. A gun just does not fit in with fantasy aspect of Minecraft.

Building legit is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see what you've done, but you're the only one who feels the warmth. Is it worth it?

I do agree with this-the TC is very ignorant about it. I think i should make a statement: I do NOT care whether or not Notch adds guns. My whole argument is blowing off steam about people who think they know what is best for minecraft yet they clearly don't. Reason this makes me so mad is because the forum community seems to have a nack for not reading the OP and just skipping straight ahead to "DONT LIKE IT DONT USE IT" or " I KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR MINECRAFT BLAH BLAH" without actually reading someone's position.
Okay, so, this is going nowhere. Locking this thread now.
1st, locked for 10 and a half seconds, Swingerzetta? Also im sorry for being off topic, but IDK why, but im loling so hard at your avatar right now.
*EDIT* Not trying to flame you, Swingerzetta, also finallay on topic, as SkyPiercers!? said, Notch said no guns EVER.

Secondly: Welcome to the forums; expect creepy people, trolls, and people that whine about updates. In other words: Welcome to a place of pain and suffering. xD
Just to add to the flame pile, I'm highly surprised all you people saying guns are too "intricate" have ignored the following:
Clocks
Compasses
Minecarts
Redstone Repeaters
Soon to be Pistons
etc. etc.
Making perfectly round wheels with naught but a hammer is nigh impossible. Don't even get me started on the automatic rotating gears in the clock.
Yeah, so for reference, I'm all for primitive guns, but I really don't care if they are added or not. I just have a beef with people claiming certain things are not "possible" in Minecraft when damn near everything is.

...its a little weightist to assume everyone is the same size. Like some people are skinny and some people are fart.
So bows aren't complicated? There is no fine line from things that are simple and things that are complicated. In my mind, bows aren't that much simpler than guns. Like, you know those fancy hunting bows that are modern? Why can't we have simple bows (spider string and wood) and simple guns?
There's no such thing as a gun as simple as a bow.
Also, the type of gun you're talking about fires slower than a bow, at shorter distance than a bow, with less accuracy than a bow, and hits with less force than a bow. I can't imagine how anyone thought differently.
I just wanted some perspective from the anti-gun crowd:
1. Why are muskets/arquebuses "too violent" for Minecraft, but TNT, the ability to light animals on fire, and suicide bombers are not "too violent"?
2. Everyone keeps saying something about firearms not fitting the fantasy theme that Minecraft supposedly exists in. Could someone define what does and does not compose a fantasy setting? I was under the impression that the typical setting involves people, inventions, and lifestyles from the middle ages. If that's the case, then why don't guns fit into this setting, considering that they played an important part of the middle ages from at least 200 years?
3. I understand that Notch has said no to guns before, but I could've sworn that I read that he was also originally against Minecraft modding. Well, here we are now, with Notch working on a modding API. Are you suggesting that he could never change his opinions?
As I said before, I'm pro-gun, and I think that guns could be a good addition to Minecraft. I'd like to clear things up for those who may not know what I (and probably the vast majority of gun supporters) mean by the word "gun".
We DO NOT mean modern weapons like you'd find in Call of Duty or many of the other modern warfare shooters out there. We just want to see a simple (MEDIEVAL ERA) gun that could very easily be created by Steve, who as it was earlier pointed out, can make mechanically complex clocks with relative ease.
